Go find an executive course (only par 3's) play that till you get GIR most of the time, after that if your putting holds up you should be able to Par most Par3's.

185i with a 7i sounds like alot. I always thought I hit it far and that would be inbetween a 5i-6i for me. Perhaps ease up and club down wouldnt +16 on 2 holes hurt that 14hcp lol!

Taking a shot because getting to bogey golf for me was a 3year struggle.

Work on your long irons, hybrids and woods. I used to fear my long irons, but today I love them. I can hit my 4 iron around 185-190 yards, so anything inside that distance is OK. Going longer and I'll need a wood to reach the green. It doesn't really bother me since I feel comfortable with the long clubs, which has progressed in the right way the last couple of years.

Just keep working on your long clubs and play these long shots a lot. One good idea is to lay up around 180-200 yards from the green on par 4s and 5s, just to give yourself the practice.

Be careful with those easy swings.  They have a tendency to go much farther than anticipated.

Go for the safe part of the green, which is usually, but is not always, the fat part.  I've seen par-3s with well-defended fat parts and fairway surrounding the other third.  A pin in the middle of the fat part might as well have been a sucker pin!

    • Unfortunately I don't have a mental record of putts that stand out, most recently a putt for eagle Sunday I think it was, but I mentioned it already. However last night I had a putt that, to me, was mood altering. I had a very stressful day at the cancer doctor with wife, waited over an hour and a half for a 2pm appointment. Then all of the chemo talk and hospice talk and anyways, just not pleasant. Our league kicks off at 5pm and I got to the course at 4:50, no warm up, just walk to the first tee and go. Got to the par 5 6th sitting at 6 over, I pushed my drive 260ish up the right into the other fairway rough, had a clean lie and good angle to green, promptly sliced a 5 wood to back left of green wide and long. Left me 60 yards plus or minus. Fatted my wedge to 16 foot of the hole. Keep in mind I was fuming, had been since the first hole, I was entertaining thoughts of walking off, I told my putter I was going to feed him to the gators, it was brutal. I got behind the ball and took some BS look at the line and just hit the putt and the damn ball went in for birdie. I leaped like Phil and fist pumped like Tiger all in the same move I think. I needed that little brief moment. It put me in a better mood and clamed me down. I still played like a hack the rest of the round, but so did everyone else now that I think about it. Extremely windy. I walked off with a 46, thats with a birdie. LOL
