I just bought one (23*, stiff) from ebay, and I was wondering if any sandtrappers have played it yet? I hit one in a launch monitor at Dick's about a week ago. It felt great and consistently hit a distance I was having trouble with. I'm looking forward to bagging it when it finally gets here.

Ok So I got the club today and this thing is a beast! The sound at impact is a very solid "thwack" sound which is unique to my bag now, and I am a fan of the solid feel. The next club up in my bag is an Adams Super Hybrid 19*, which sounds a bit more metallic on impact, and IMO actually feels just a touch better than the Mashie. The headcover is a sort of funky retro sock with a pom-pom thing on it, and it works surprisingly well, and the material feels like a really durable nylon of some sort.

My first few shots with it were hook-tastic, which scared me for a minute until I had the setup down for that club. For me this will be my ~185yd club, and It did a good job covering anything between 155 and 185 with a nice variable trajectory, and I was still able to fade the ball with it, even though it naturally wants to draw, but nothing close to a slice with this.

The shaft is 59 grams, and I play a 65 gram shaft in the Adams. This didn't really bother me. Part of my pre-shot routine is holding the club in front of me at a 45* angle and getting a feel for the weight of the clubhead. The overall weight is noticeable, but swinging it really doesn't feel too terribly different from any other hybrid.

Since I've only taken this club to the range thus far, I can't really say how it hits out of various lies, but it definitely looks aggressive, much more so than my Adams, which seems to do OK from the rough. I have a feeling this will be the go-to rough club, but I can't really say just yet.

More to come soon.

Any more opinions on the Mashies?

I need something that is longer then a 5 iron and shorter then a 3W.

I know i need to get a 5W but should i go with 7W/9W direction or go with Mashie type of club?

The Mashie is a great little hybrid.  Its easy to hit, as a good feel and gives good distance.

Whats in my :sunmountain: C-130 cart bag?

Hi one last Saturday at a demo day and it is an alright club. But not even close to getting my Adams out of my bag. I can hit shots with my Adams that I can't with any other hybrid I have tried. Also saw the new Adams hybrid that will be to market in the next three or four weeks...it was sweet.

UPDATE:

So I've played a couple rounds with the Mashie and it does exactly what it is intended to do. It cuts through rough really well and gets the ball up high. I can hit greens from way out and land them softly enough that the ball doesn't roll out a ton. I would really like to try the 83g shaft offering and see how much different they really are, but for now the 59g works just fine.

One thing to be aware of with this club...The butt end of the shaft is fatter than a normal shaft and regular size grips will feel like a midsize. I believe that someone makes a special grip for this type of shaft to keep it at a standard size, but I'm not sure who.

Thanks for the feedback. I will definitely try it out. I was thinking of going with the Adams iron hybrids but i hit the Tour Edge Bazookas really well. Will try their longer hybrids though. I only bought 5-P. I wish i had tried the Cleveland hybrids HB3s earlier. They may be good.  Are 7W/9W usually for seniors? I'm new to Golf and am not a senior. Seems like I need a 5W and a 2 iron Mashie. I've been running into situations where i'm too long or short with clubs.

If you like Hybrids you might want to try a 4 iron hybrid. I love my adams 4 so much I got a 2 as well...... I hit it so well I've pulled the 3 wood from the bag

The Mashie is the real deal.  I was going to get the Adams A7.  Well, the Cleveland Rep was there so I gave the Mashie a shot out of courtesy.  To be honest, the mashie wasn't even on my radar.  I walked out with the M3 and M4.  Awesome hybrids.

I am looking into buying the M2 and M4.  I know this is an older thread but I thought I would give it a bump instead of making a new one.

I hit the 23* one today that supposedly had a Stiff shaft.  The thing did not feel stiff at all to me; is that right?  I have never hit a hybrid before that so I don't have anything to compare with.

Well I ended up going with the 20.5* M3.  Paid $70 for it locally.  Feels great.  Goes about 240 for me and you don't have to swing it hard.  Nice club.  I'm not having the hook issues that I thought I might with the big offset.
