I was browsing the blog and came upon an article from May 2010 announcing the release of some TaylorMade irons and putters. At the end it says:

"The TaylorMade Rossa Monza Spider Vicino putter is available in center-shafted, heel-shafted, and jumbo models for right handed players, while lefties only get the option of a heel shafted model ."

I see this happen with various brands. Every shop and retailer I go to, my options are very limited. Maybe I should open a left handed golf store!

Unfortunately, unless you are Phil, you do get the shaft. Luckily though shafts can go either way. As for the rest of the equipment there just isn't enough demand for the variation as lefties only make up a small percentage of the total market. I would venture to say that left handed women and seniors have even a smaller selection than the average left handed male.

As a lefty I know what you are talking about with getting the shaft.  I will say it bothers me more with smaller companies or component companies but I do understand that market just isn't strong enough. I'll also add that in my opinion taylor made seems to be the worst major company for lefties. I do think there is still quite a selection for lefties but you just have to look a lot harder to find the stuff you want.

It sucks to have to order clubs you haven't hit yet. I wish I could demo more stuff in the store...

One of the main reasons I like and play Callaway is that a large portion of their equipment is available in LH. My local golf shop has a decent LH section and a lot of it is Callaway.

Finding LH clubs is tough, at best they inventory the most popular irons and woods.  I've found Dicks and Golfsmith to have a decent selection, while Sports Authority almost completely ignores LH golfers.  Worse than clubs is gloves, usually they only stock the cheapest gloves for RH and only have one or two in each size.  It's almost impossible to find a premium glove at a golf store for RH at least on Long Island.

Economics. Why stock up on left handed gear when the majority of golfers are right handed.

They should at least have a left hand of all models at all times though

I hate that crap too. It sucks.. Feels like I am getting punished at times for being LH.

i.e. Cobra made the S2 forged irons (which I played cobra since I was about 15 or so) but no S2 forged  in LH.. WTF!

I was forced (which I am not complaining now) to the mizuno mp 68.

I will say, The PGA Superstore (Chandler AZ) is great for lefties!

The last thing is driver degree angle. I tend to have a high ball flight off the tee. I have the cobra ZL 9.5.. Well they make the 8.5 & 9.0 in RH. But no LH.. Same with Titelist, I liked the 910 D2 which I hit pretty well being 9.5, but no options in a lower degree angle... WTH!!!!!!

With modern semi-custom manufacturing, we shouldn't be that far away from companies being able to cast a LH version of most clubs with minimal extra cost. Maybe we'll see more of it once the recession is truly over.

I don't see why lefties shouldn't be discriminated against - they don't fall into any of the race, sex, or religious protected classes.     And the reality is that they are inferior to righties in every aspect.    They don't possess the intellect and analytical skills; almost always have serious personality flaws or even serious psychological disorders that can even be dangerous to society; and they don't have the physical attractiveness of righties.     And they smell funny too.       If golf club manufacturers stopped wasting money making products for these drains on society, the cost of clubs for the rest of us would come down.     Time to start lobbying the manufacturers to keep their priorities where they rightfully (no pun intended) belong!

When I think about it. Anyone a true lefty or true righty is just messed up.. I am left, but my strong hand is my right... In golf, doesnt it make sense that your top hand should be your dominant hand.... just sayin

First of all, you can go to hell! lol

But yeah, being lefty does suck. I was a naturally LH guitarist, but when I started playing my mum's old gtr was obviously RH. So I learned RH and THANK **** for that! When I go into a music store I get full spread! yay.

It's odd though. I write RH, throw RH etc, but I bat LH, golf LH. I'm a left foot kick. My brother is the same, but a right foot kick!? weird. And to make things more interesting, I'm left eye dominant, which is also apparently pretty odd. Makes me useless at pool/shooting etc, because I play righty, but have to try and aim with the left eye. I'm a spastic...

I don't mind so much that manufacturers don't make everything LH, but for christ's sake - keep demo's of everything in LH! I hate when I want to hit a few demos and 'oh sorry, we don't have a LH'. That's bullshit! How hard is it to get a LH 6i MP53(or whatever) in LH?

If there's anything that 16 years of Catholic schooling has instilled in me, it's that left handers are the tool of the devil.

My dad used to tell me "life isn't fair, get over it".  Good advice.  But as a fellow lefty I learned we are more adaptable than right handed folks and I just learned to play right handed because those were the only clubs I could get when I began to play.  I remember it was a little awkward at first but today it feel natural for me.  Given today's options for lefties I wouldn't do it again however.

Seriously! As far as gloves, I just buy mine online.
