So my wedges are pretty well shot. The Cleveland was used when I got it and that was several years ago. The Tour Edge I bought from K-Mart when I was about 13 and while I'm really comfortable with that club the grip is toast, the shaft is way too heavy and the grooves are pretty well rounded off.

My issue is I probably cant get away spending any more then about $60 including shipping to replace them... so my options are quite limited. Has anyone swung any of the clubs below Im looking at or know of any other decent deals around?

Keep in mind Im a lefty.

I know thats quite a list but if you have any experiance or suggestions tell me what you think.

My PW is 48 degrees. Ive also considered getting a single 55 Degree wedge and keeping my 60 as is for the moment so Id certainly take some suggestions on single 54-56 degree wedges in the 40-50 dollar range or 60ish If i can get em at a store somewhere.

Thanks!

have to support my fellow lefties...

personally, in my experience there's not been a huge difference to me between cheaper wedges and the "premium" ones (yes, i am gaming a mix of Clevelands and a Vokey though).   I used to use an old RAM 50* gap wedge which treated me very well for many seasons. If you're index is really a 22 right now, i'd doubt there would be any difference you'd notice yet.

That being said, i'd still recommend going with recognized brands if you have a choice...moreso because i'd bet they might be more likely to be of higher construction quality and last a bit longer.  From your list, Wilson Staff (not to be confused with their generic "Wilson" line at discount stores) makes excellent clubs.  Nickent, although bankrupt (but maybe reborn as they were bought out by Dick's), used to make very nice clubs, and you'll find a collection of Nickent "groupies" on this forum.

If you're PW is still in decent shape, I think a Gap/Sand combo would probably be just right for you, and 52/56* would give you pretty even yardage gaps.

Driver: Cleveland Classic 270, 10.5*
Fairway Woods: Adams Speedline LP (3 & 5)
Hybrids: Wilson Staff Fybrids 21*, 24*, UST V2 stiff
Irons: Callaway X-20 Tour, 5-PW, Rifle Project-X (flighted) 6.0
Wedges: Cleveland CG15 DSG 52* & 58* +/- 56* Niblick

Putter: Yes! Amy

I know a thing or two about Nickent I spent the last 3 or 4 days trying to track down some lefty Nickent Arc wedges with no luck :(

Yeah my PW is brand new came with my recently purchased Nickent Irons.

The wilsons are tempting becuase they are probably quality Items my question with them is they are merely the Wedge portion of a full set. So is it better to get wedges designed to be wedges? Or are these sort of wedges designed as part of an Iron set almost or just as good?

Was looking at those but Im pretty stiff on my budget 2 of them with SH and Tax (as im in NY) would be closer to $80 which while its only $20 its $20 i really don't want to spend. If shipping wernt so much Id consider getting the 54 now and the 58 in a month or two. Thanks for the tip though I may go that way If I decide to just sharpen the grooves on my crappy 60.

A local superstore sells the Addams Watson set for $99 and the indiviual clubs for around $65. I would be tempted to go that route if I needed wedges.

I have a single Adams Tom Watson PVD 56 degree wedge and I like it a lot.  I use it for almost all my short game stuff.  I haven't been hitting it well on full shots any more, though that's sort of a phase---it used to be one of my most reliable clubs.  I've got a couple other wedges, one a cheap Wilson 52 and a Callaway 60 and I have done a lot of comparisons and hit the Adams consistently better for chips and pitches.  It's a very good club, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.  I can't comment on the other lofts, but I suspect they're just fine.

The one thing I'd say is that, unless they've changed it since I bought mine a couple years ago, the swing weight is really light compared to many other wedges.  I liked it, particularly at the time because I was playing some light graphite shafts, but some people prefer a heavier wedge.  So see if you can try a few to make sure you're happy with that characteristic.

In the bag:
FT-iQ 10° driver, FT 21° neutral 3H
T-Zoid Forged 15° 3W, MX-23 4-PW
Harmonized 52° GW, Tom Watson 56° SW, X-Forged Vintage 60° LW
White Hot XG #1 Putter, 33"

Well I got pretty lucky today at Dick's. They arnt exactly what I wanted but at the price I got them for I cant complain.

I walk into Dicks and go to their pro shop. I tell the guy im a lefty on a budget looking for cheap as can be wedges. After going through his standard selection and finding no two wedges I could afford together...

He tells me hes got just the thing for me and brings out Cleveland Launcher 09 gap and sand wedge. He said they were originally part of a Demo set and when they were not longer selling the set they sold the 3-PW but the GW and SW just never sold. the Gap wedge needed a new shaft and they both had a demo grips on it that I was not fond of. He said If i bought the new grips and the one new shaft from them hed give me the 2 clubs as is for $25!!!

I still need to get a more standard wedge I think because these heads are pretty oversize and may not play well out of terrible lies but with 25 into the clubs plus another 20 for new grips and a steel shaft I'm ok with that. I can keep the one of my old wedges in the bag for now to get me out of stickier lies and Ill keep my eye out for a decent wedge for deeper rough and sand lies. These clubs should play really nice out of the fairway and first cut though.

My previous wedges were the Watson set in black. Got them in 2009 and played them until August 2010 when I got my Vokeys and decided I didn't need the 60* and liked a 50* over 52*. Great set for the money, no question, although I agree with the above, they are very light.
