Ok Ive done some testing and some reworking and this is an EXTREMELY valuable practice tool if you haven't got acres of space or hundreds of balls.

That said... the apoxy and ball only version falls apart when it gets soaking wet so I would not reccomend that.

Screwing a eye loop into the ball is a bit more durable however that too under many swings eventually fails.

My solution that so far has held together the best is a combo.

I drilled a very small pilot hole into the ball. I then dipped the Eye loop into epoxy before screwing it into the ball.

The result has been very nice to hit and very durable.

Also very important. NEVER NEVER EVER put the excess rope anywhere near your swing path... that is unless you like having the ball swing back and whap you in the head.

It's always a good idea to get fitted to your Ball On A Rope!!!  It will without a doubt reduce the size of the lump on your forehead!
