It was 97 degrees out last night and I had just finished my 2nd Gatorade pulling up to the 7th tee box. Low and behold the cart girl comes around the corner as we get there. I flag her down, get my wallet out of the top pocket on my bag, which I have to loosen the cart strap to get at, stupid TM Catilina bag. First off, the cart girl is about 5'10" and absolutely stunningly beautiful and with the hot weather the shorts were real short.... not going to lie I was distracted. I pay her the $2.50 for the bottle, tip her a $1.50 and put my wallet in the bag. My group tees off and I drive to hit my second shot. I hit that one just off the green on the fringe, looking at possible birdie or par. Hop in the cart hit the gas and I hear the wonderful sound of my bag hitting the ground as I drive away. Well, I stop the cart, get out and grab my bag, put the bag in tightening the strap this time... then I notice lying on the ground behind the cart about 12" of shaft and the head to my 4 week old TaylorMade Superfast 2.0 driver...... Yep.... HUGE face palm..... Then I had to explain to my wife what happened. To her I left out how hot the cart girl is.....

Ohhhh.... that's gotta hurt! Hopefully the wife understands that as a group that there are times when we are not the sharpest knives on the tree.

I've got a perfect one...this past monday at lake mohawk country club i was at a stroke play outing for charity. afterwards there was a chance for you to buy a shot on the 175 yard par 3, uphill 9th hole to a small green for $20 bucks...(can buy as many as you want). the clubhouse is 50 yards past the back of the green, with a patio in between where onlookers were watching. a guy with a moderately good looking swing gets up and hits his first shot of two short, about 70 yards from the green. he then proceeds to deposit another $20 and 'just needs another club'....wacks his ball so far it fly's the second balcony of the clubhouse!...over 75 yds past the green! ultimate

I stopped reading for a moment and cringed at this part...then I did a facepalm :)

Sorry about your driver.

My face palm moments outnumber my "Holy %&$* what a great shot" moments by a lot.  I don't even know where to start but I've done the following sequence more than a few times.

First Tee (any tee really) swing and miss...completely while people are looking from the clubhouse or adjacent green.

Then over-compensate and bury the driver into the ground 6" behind the ball.

Then over-compensate and thin the ball which get's caught up in the rough in front of the Tee and doesn't make it from the white tee to the ladies tee.

The above is even funnier if you can imagine this being done by a  middle-aged guy 6'4" with a reasonably athletic 265 lb frame.

    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
    • Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings.
    • IMO-the only thing entertaining was the relay race. Everything else was excruciatingly boring...or just  stupid, like the 14-club thing. Watching guys blade wedges into the water over and over is not at all interesting.
