playing at Cane patch par 3 course in myrtle beach earlier this year. First time actually playing on a course not just on the driving range. My dad aces on his 8th hole ever (90yds I think), I birdied the 10th hole in front of about 40 people. First sub bogey score I ever got. What are the odds on that?

Wow that's pretty impressive, "Very Nice".. wish i did that my first time out.

I had just received my first set of clubs and was out in probably my 3rd round at 10 yrs old. Playing a long par 4, I was hitting a 7 iron from about 125 yrds out. I skulled the ball and it never went any higher than a foot off the ground. With about 25 yards to the front of the green, the ball hit a cart path sign and bent it just enough to launch the ball straight up in the air. After one bounce on the green it dropped straight in the cup for my first par ever.

The cart-path sign/pickup truck response was great!

I'm really new to the game so here's mine......I was playing in a scramble a couple of years ago; I'm the worst player in the foursome by far. First hole is a looong par 5, we hit a good drive. 2nd shot...nothing usable so we use a mulligan and have our best driver hit a 3-wood. He smokes it onto the green. As we get up there, 3 of the folks from my service club (who are running the outing) are drinking beer and carrying on about 20 feet away. They are assigned to take pictures (which they do occasionally amid all of the carousing and catcalling). Our team is hunkered down trying to study the green while they carry on. I turn to the carousers and politely ask..."hey guys, we would really love to make this one...can you tone it down a little?". They start cat-calling right away: "Oh...Mr. Big Time wants us to hush so that we don't break his focus! We are SO sorry if we are disturbing you!". The foursome picks me to putt first and I can the sliding 30-footer for eagle. Couldn't make a putt for the rest of the day, but at least I made one when people were watching! Our team celebrated that thing like we'd won the Ryder Cup or something! Ahhh..good times.

Last year I had just started playing, but I was already hooked on the game. I went out one weekend morning with my Dad and two of his friends. His two friends are outstanding golfers and both shot 70s that day. The first tee with at least 10 carts lined up behind us, I don't even get it to the ladies tees. Needless to say, I was so nervous and went the first three holes: 9, 9, and 7 (par 4, 4, and 3 respectively). Finally after the first 3 holes I calmed down and on hole #7 I hit a drive which ended up a few feet behind a tree. Every shot back then was a slice so I decide I can play a cut 3 wood and maybe get it close. The ball goes exactly where I was aiming narrowly missing the tree and cuts to a slope left of the hole about 30 yards from the cup. I chip it in playing the large left to right break to perfection for BIRDIE. It was my first birdie ever and I'll never forget my Dad and his friends telling me to tee it up because I had honors.

I shouldn't forget that I shot a 101 on my first full 18 that day, actually beating my Dad! I'll never forget that.

This happened while playing at Stone Mountain Golf Club ( www.stonemountaingolf.com ) last weekend. This happened on the 11th hole. First you had layup downhill about 150-160 yards. Then after that you had to hit it over a lake and onto the other side where the green was. It was a good 200-210 yards to the green. I grabbed my 6 iron and take some practice shots and give it a go. I topped the ball kinda bad and it came out as a line drive that had no chance of clearing the lake. Well the ball hit in the lake, bounced up, hit a rock, and landed on the green. About 30-35 feet from the flag. I then went on to make the putt for a birdie!? The hole was a par4.

how lucky/good was that? At least I felt good and not lucky about the 30 foot putt.

I have a couple. Each are good in their own right:

1) First time breaking 90
2) First time breaking 80
3) First eagle
4) Par on a Par 5 after putting my tee ball O.B. (eagled the second ball)
5) The most perfect 3 wood I hit from about 250 yards out after hooking my drive to the first fairway. Left about 10 ft. for eagle, made the putt.
6) Holing out from 88 yards after I pulled my tee ball into the crap and just punching back to the fairway.
7) Everytime I hit a nice smooth 5 yard draw with my driver that is the perfect height and carries about 250-260 and rolls out another 20-30 yards.
8) When I got fitted for clubs and I was told I really need stiff flex steel for my irons.
9) Each time I tee off on the first hole and walk down the fairway from the tee box in perfect weather.
10) In one of the clubs I belong in, we have an individual who can bomb the ball, but his swing is just a mess. His club head almost hits the ground at the end of his backswing (he goes that far past parallel). He hits a high high left to right ball. It goes far but not always straight. The problem is that the wind just knocks his ball down. Downwind his ball will definitely go past me, but into the wind, I can keep my drives lower and keep them from being affected by the wind as much. I have beaten him for long drive twice when it has been into the wind. Drives him crazy. Just one of those, technique does have its advantages.
11) The first time I played an entire round of golf by the rules. (of course I do this all the time now, but the first time I did it was pretty eye opening). Took me a bit of time to break 100 again.

1) Won the same junior tournament that Tiger did.

2) Scoring a double-eagle when I was 15 in HS regionals.

3) Scoring a double-eagle March 11th of this year.

4) My mother winning the club championship when I thought golf was meant for nerds.

5) Playing with a relative stranger last night that kicked my ass.

Learning to play on a par-3 course with my grandfather.

Playing an evening round with my father when I was about 10, on a par 5, he chipped the ball in. I looked at him and said, "if you can do it, I can do it" and then chipped my ball in as well.

Being in the group when my dad scored his only ace.

My two eagles from the fairway.

Every golfing moment in Ireland and Scotland

The 8-iron that ended up about two feet away earlier this year.

The 5-iron to about four feet two weeks ago.

After playing with irons only for a year (couldn't afford a driver) I was given a pretty nice driver. The very first time I used it on a course, on the very first hole, on the very first swing :) I hit it straight for about 260.

I didn't hit it as pretty after that but that first shot put a huge grin on my face untill the next time I had to drive with it.

Breaking 100 @ Pine Valley on the 1st try.

Nice!

Hoping for an invite there myself and would be thrilled with sub-100. Reminds me to follow up with my dad on the topic.

I would have to say last night. I was giving my opponent 17 shots for 9 holes. I started off a little shakey. On top of that he rolls in long putts on 2 and 5 for pars and chips in on the 3rd for another par. I'm thinking how can I possibly win whne I am only up 3 shots through 5 holes.

I chipped in for birdie on the 220 yard 6th. I hit a good drive and a wedge to 10 inches for a tap in birdie on the 7th. I hit perfect little fade with my 3 hybrid to about 40 yards on the 8th. My wedge hit 2 feet from the hole and released about 10 feet past to the fringe. I rolled in the putt from the fringe for my third straight birdie. I finished with a par on 9 by making a tough downhill 7 footer.

It was the first time I have ever birdied back to back, the first time I have ever had 3 birdies in one nine and it was the lowest I have ever shot on that course and relative to par +1. I also held on to nip him by one shot.
