ha...no kidding..there a dime a dozen here...just moved up here from SD.

i don't mind it so much...i'm use to playing with a bunch of white people in SD...coming here, even for me was a culture shock LOL

Your real culture shock will be when you find out the difference of playing golf in LA versus SD.     I had pretty much given up the game when I lived in LA because of the slooooow rounds, traffic to and from the course, difficulty in getting decent tee times, etc.      When I moved to to San Diego I found out again how enjoyable the game can be.

that's true clambake...i experienced a few rounds where it was unreal...soooo slow. i like wilson and harding...out at griffith park. so far it's not that bad but yea i've heard it can get really bad here

Slow play just comes with the territory playing public golf in L.A. I just go in expecting the round to be slow. It makes it much more bearable. Plus the courses are pretty fun to play! Rancho Park is among my favorite course designs, and I've played some pretty great courses otherwise to reference. Brookside 1 and 2 are super fun that offer a nice challenge. Even Knollwood I enjoy a lot. I've grown up playing golf there, so I guess it holds a special spot. Another great layout as well. Same goes for Wilson and Harding on Griffith Park.

Once you get acclimated to L.A., you should check out golf in Ventura County. A little more open in terms of people on the course. A ton of courses to choose from.

ben..i've played brookside with my uncle at like 6am one morning. last time i dawn patrol for golf lol...but yes it was fun.

heard great things about rancho park...still need to play there!!

wilson and harding are my fav courses right now...somewhat affordable and close to home and pretty wide open in terms of the fairways.

also...my get away spots are up in the central coast where my son lives (pismo beach) ...monarch and avila beach and dairy creek are my favorite courses up there. black lake is fun too oh and morro bay :)

Cool! I've heard good things about Monarch and Avila but haven't played them myself. I really haven't traveled too far north often. My only Central CA golf experience is La Purisima. But man, what a place! I've played there a good number of times. A true pain in the butt golf course. So fun! Definitely one of my favorite courses. I caddied for a friend at Sandpiper, but haven't played it myself. It was quite beautiful. I did get way up north in April. Played in Walnut Creek for a tournament.

My golf has traveled more east and west. Pretty much between Thailand being the west end and Pinehurst being the east end. I would like to try some stuff in Vancouver though, I'd imagine its pretty nice. I hear Columbia is safe these days. I wonder how the courses are down there?

ben...imo the central coast has some of the most beautiful courses in california. i grew up in sd, lived in san luis obispo and have played up in the sf area tons....and of course here in la and oc...

i would love to travel and golf..i've only traveled and surfed. i hear vancouver is beautiful as well...ex gf moved back up there. i'm 42...have an 8 handicap, have done so much in life i'm blessed. im at a point now where i want to and need to take my game to the next level...i mean everything from eating right to working out to practicing 3 to 4 times a week. i have no idea where this drive came from...i've always had a passion for this game but ..and it's not like i'm trying to get on tour LOL... i just want to do this for me. i have to prove to myself that i can score par thru a round once!

anyways...going off on a tangent...you sound like a pro golfer. i'd love to ask you for some advise :)

Yeah, I play professionally and work at a private club in The Valley. I'm usually up for dishing out advice. Just shoot me a PM!
