Well this happened about two days after I posted in the "Putter Covers" thread about how I think putter covers are annoying and I rarely use them. Insert foot in mouth. I have a clic-gear cart and I let my bag roll off of an elevated tee box, and when it hit the cart path it bit the dust pretty hard, and the one single club in the bag to take any damage was the f****** Scotty.

I've gotten a couple quotes on refinishing, but I'm wondering about my options in the DIY department might be. Or if anyone else has tackled a project like this. There is also a mild blemish on the face from a texas wedge with a sandy ball that I would love to eliminate at the same time.

If you're experienced with a dremel you could clean that up, but you'll certainly be removing material to do so.  I'd probably find someone who has professional experience refurbishing clubs.  There are cheaper alternatives than sending it to the Scotty Spa.

get some 220 grit sand paper  wet or dry and sand it to blend in the marks.  Won't remove them all but would look a lot better.  Did the same to my odyssey putter.

No matter what you do, your will probably end of removing quite a bit of the chrome, which will leave a lot of metal vulnerable to rust. I would either just putt with it or send it in- Scotty Spa or elsewhere.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

If it were pure steel a fine grinding stone and some 400 grit sand paper would buff that right out.

If it is indeed chrome plated It will look different. I wouldn't worry too much about rust though if you keep it dry and out of humidity rust probably wont be an issue for a very long time.

Exactly. He should just get it completely restored to like new at the Custom Shop for $145. He'll get a brand new replacement grip and headcover with it.

get some fine sandpaper and polish it out.

start with more abrasive and work down to a dish cloth. its really not that difficult, especially with that scottys rounded edge.

you can just run the paper along that rear edge. then once you have got the actuall indentations out, get finer and finer until it is smooth as silk.

at this point it will still look dis-coloured. now you get some BRASSO and a dish cloth, and rub rub rub rub until you have the matching finish.

it WILL have a perfect finish, so long as you do all of your sanding/polishing in the same direction

this is exactly what the pros would do. alternatively send it to me and i will do it. for a price...

    • I’m not sure I agree. It’s just what the majority find more entertaining. Most people prefer women’s gymnastics over men in the Olympics. How much hype is there with the men’s compared to the women’s? I bet you can rattle off several big names in women’s gymnastics and only a handful of men. Women’s tennis …same thing. And sure enough, their purses are the same. However, WNBA, awful…LPGA, not near as much interest than PGA. Don’t think it’s really that complicated IMO.

    • Hence your Avatar!😜 I drink a lot of water during the day if I’m playing or exercising. I get cramps otherwise.
    • If you walk up to a food/drink kiosk at Magic Kingdom and ask the person for a cup of "magic water" they will give you a small cup of Sprite for free. About 3 fingers worth. They don't sell alcohol at MK anymore so I go over to one of the courses while she hangs out there.
    • This isn't some kind of natural fact. It's a lot more complicated than this implies.
