To all soccer fans....

just curious to hear your opinions on this one....

meanwhile, I read a news that Capello, current Real Madrid coach, has declared that "Beckham is no longer going to play an official game for Real Madrid...he is going to train regularly, but will never play anymore...."

IMO If Beckham still had the game he wouldn't be moving to USA to play. He was incredible but I think he has trouble shining over the younger players now, and someone like Bckham needs to shine. He's not happy with just getting a game anymore.

One thing is for sure though, watch how many more t-shirts are sold over here now

I am old enough to remember when Pele was going to make soccer a big spectator sport in the USA. It didn't happen. Beckham is no Pele, it is not going to happen this time either. What athlete is really worth what they recieve? Maybe (NFL) football, ruining your body has to count for something. Really we are paying them as entertainers. Compared to top actors or musical performers 250 million (60% or more rumored to be endorsements) is far below the top acts. Tiger reportedly earned 100 million this year.

I read that the 1/4 bill is just some random number thrown out there to turn heads. I mean if somebody like Ronaldinho came to the U.S. I doubt any team could afford to throw down 50 million each year for 5 years c'mon, I doubt the entire MLS let alone the Galaxy franchise is even worth 250 million! I also believe that if he could still produce he would still be playing in Europe. A lot of soccer fans I know are really loving the younger generation of players like C.Ronaldo, Rooney, Eto'o, Henry etc. As for the thought that Beckham might popularize soccer here in U.S. goes I truly believe it can't be done. I don't speak for everyone but the national consensus is that we love football not soccer. Pele couldn't do it and neither could Beckenbauer. Maybe there is a chance he can in LA but not on a national scale. But hey, Posh is mega hot she'll probably attract more attention and media than Becks.

This article sheds some light on the transfer.

I am a huge soccer fan, and I think this is a good move for Beckham. It is no secret he is not the player he was 5 years ago, but he still has a lot of experience and his big name will do a lot for the league.
Marquis players will not flock to MLS until multi-million dollar contracts are the norm. Beckham hopefully can start that.

I used to play a Ping G5 but I changed it after I gave a Sasquatch as a present to a friend of mine and he practically blasted! (10-20 yards more than me!)

I changed to Sasquatch and I was able to pass my friend's driver by the usual 5-10 yards! I love it, especially on mis-hits.

I myself would rather watch grass grow than a soccer game so I have a hard time believing that any soccer player is worth 250 million in the USA. It is a really good publicity stunt trying to popularize soccer in america. There is only one problem; soccer is freaking boring to watch. US professional soccer is never going to come close in popularity to basketball, baseball, hockey, and especially not football. I mean come on arena football probably outdraws soccer 2-1.

Beckham is a vain plonker!!!!! He epitomises the worst side of the UK's vulgar bling obsessed chav culture.

A good player in his day, but not even in the same league as Pele, Maradona or Cruyff. He seems to be more interested in poncy fashion acessories these days than football.

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
