That link kept redirecting me to the US Open site, so I had to view it in Google's cache: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Ftourreport.pgatour.com%2F2011%2F06%2F05%2Fmove-over-shaq-jack-can-dunk%2F&ie;=utf-8&oe;=utf-8&aq;=t&rls;=org.mozilla:en-US:unofficial&client;=firefox-a

Jack was an excellent BB player in HS and was recruited to play basketball for Ohio State.  Had he accepted the offer....he would have been a member of the 1960 OSU national championship team!!!!!....he would have played along side of the likes of Lucas, Havlicek....and oh yea.... a guy named Knight played on that team too. (he rode the pine) LOL

Jack was a baller..........no doubt about it!!!!!!  He could handle both rocks...big and little.........too bad for him that he chose to Ohio State for golf.  A big career mistake...Hahaha

 • Jack Nicklaus was great at BB and golf, and he played tennis to keep his legs in shape.
 • Sam Snead could do a kick split in which both feet were off the ground at the same time.
 • Hale Irwin was an all Big Eight defensive back at Colorado.
 • Sam Bradford, Oklahoma U. Heisman winner and the Rams 1st round draft pick last year, is a scratch golfer.
 • John Brodie, longtime QB for the San Francisco 49ers, played for 13 years on the PGA Senior Tour; only NFL player to ever win Champions Tour event. Golf guru Jimmy Ballard credits Brodie with introducing him to videotaping as a way to analyze a golf swing.

What does this tell us? Possibly that superior athletic ability helps out in golf. Hand-eye coordination, good overall conditioning. Add in learned ability to have positive attitude under stress.

Add in the videotape swing analysis, and the modern conditioning, and the science part of golf has caught up with - and maybe surpassed - the art.

(Not sure how this applies to Charles Barkley)

None of that is true of course, since we all know there was not one single athletic golfer prior to Tiger Woods. That's right Ernie, Greg, etc - you never existed.

Kidding of course - even top athletes in other sports in the 60s and 70s didn't look as "athletic" as today's athletes thanks to advances in training and dietary supplements.
