Maybe not within the next few years, no, but just because it's going in The Barclays rotation doesn't mean it can't host a U.S. Open anytime in the next 10 years. Torrey Pines hosts the Farmers Insurance Open every year but hosted the U.S. Open in 2008.

I'm glad to see it in the rotation for The Barclays...gets rid of the bad players and leaves only the good for the rest of the playoffs.

Well it'll be the site of the Barclays in 2012 and 2016, and with the US Open on long island at Shinnecock in 2018, it seems unlikely to happen again in this decade. But I guess it doesn't matter, just cause its not a major, doesn't mean the Barclays won't be fun to watch.

Awesome. Depending on the scheduling I'll have to seriously consider attending. [quote name="MrElculver2424" url="/forum/thread/48035/bethpage-black-to-host-1st-rd-of-fed-ex-cup-playoffs-2012#post_619556"]

That's not a bad rotation of venues the Barclays has established. Bethpage needs no introduction; the pros rave about Ridgewood, and the course has produced two fantastic tournaments thus far; Plainfield has not yet had its day in the spotlight, but it's very much like Aronimink (a recently-renovated Donald Ross design), which has been an outstanding temporary home of Tiger's tournament; and while Liberty National isn't a great course (it's certainly inferior to the Bayonne links down-harbor, though that course could never host a PGA Tour event), it's hard to argue with its location.

In my UnderArmour Links stand bag...

Good point about Liberty (one PGA player called it a waste of a perfectly good landfill, lol).. however I've heard (from the horses mouth) that LNCC is "redoing" (not sure to what extent) 17 of their 18 holes. So it should be interesting to see how it looks next year.

I wonder what kind of spectator turn out to expect this year in LI. Prob not 50k/day like the US Open but with the top 125 (and Tiger already qualified) it should be a big draw.

Too bad about Plainfield last year, the weather really killed the event mostly.. should be much different in 2015.

Oh boy, don't you just love those adoring, very respectful fans at Bethpage. And I don't think Phil likes it there, some bad mojo.

I took it for granted that the last US Open was here and didn't bother going. Kicking myself for that. I'll be a bit annoyed about the course closings to joe public though and an event like this usually rips up the other courses a little.

I still remember the first US Open when Garcia was called "Grip Boy".
