Ok, this makes perfect sense. And you are exactly right, When I look at my leg work compared to Phil's, to me it looks identical. But at the top of my backswing I have all my 80/90% of my weight on my inside right leg. But now after visualizing what you are saying I can feel the weight transfer to my left leg and it feels like I am literally throwing a Roger Clemons fastball off of the pitching mound...

Is Phil's swing considered a Stack and Tilt?

I think he cocks his lead elbow at the top because of a lack of flexibility. I'd suggest trying to straighten your lead arm in order to improve ball striking consistency.


How can I work on getting this lead arm straighter? It seems to always bend! And consistency is what I struggle with the most. I can have 3 pars and then follow it up with 3 double bogeys...

I'm not an expert by any means, but I start with with lead elbow pointing to my hip (Hogans elbow pocket pointed to the sky).  It causes the elbow to rotate so it's less inclined to collapse on the backswing.

Thank you, My lead elbow has always naturally pointed down the target line.

I have no idea if Phil's swing is Stack and Tilt. Hopefully the S&T experts will chime in.

It's not, but as with all good golf swings, it has a number of components. Phil's weight is forward at impact, he has a flat left wrist, etc. etc. etc. Components of a good golf swing.

I could not agree with this more. I believe that the fundamentals of the golf swing are all the same. I believe it is up to the golfer on which ones he incorporates into his swing. If one swing was the best then everyone would be using it...
