I used to use an Odyssey White Hot two ball mallet, and recently changed to a Ping Redwood Anser.

The White Hot gave me a lot more confidence lining up puts when I was first starting to take up golf. I switched to the Redwood about three weeks ago, and what a differnce.

My distance judgement just seems to have improved no end, so that now I am getting balls around 2ft from the hole with shots 20ft and out most of the time. I can't see me switching back to the Odyssey anytime soon, unless things start to go drastically wrong.

Nike Unitized Retro, I absolutely love the weight of this putter, perfect in everything I look for in a club.

I find Scotty Camerons far too light weight.

I use a 33 1/2 inch ping karsten anser 2. I bought the newer model this year to update from my older "hand me down" karsten. I messed around with a yes c groove putter for awhile and that is also a very underated putter-but it is basically a copy of the anser with the c grooves on them. I can really explain pros-vs cons of using them because they are the only style putters ive used on a extensive basis. Ive played around with heel weighted odessy putters (which I liked) but I dont have enough experience to make a definative opinion about the differences.

I use a Taylormade Rossa CGB AGSI Daytona Blade, amazing feel with the AGSI insert and nice weighting due to the weights in the clubhead

I used a ping karsten anser 2 for 12 years it worked great for me, I had no problem with alaignment and worked great with long puts but in short put I miss 7 of 10. I bought the tri-ball and I love the balance and in the short putts is money. Still carry both, since I have not practice a lot with the tri-ball.

I use the Yes Tiffany.

It looks weird but it's so easy to align with it. The feel is great also.

It's not as forgiving as some for the very long putts. Fortunately I rarely play on courses with massive greens.

    • I’ve been rather surprised how my original question relating to the logic behind “differential vs course handicap” elicited the responses expressed on this thread so far. I suppose it shows that there are many who have given this subject a lot of thought. I personally like the current system for the same reasons stated in the post by saevel25 and it works very well in our league. I just needed to get the reasoning/logic clear in my head so I could explain it succinctly to those who had questions. Regarding the ongoing discussion, the only tweak we make is only the scores made in league competition count. (We don’t use GHIN, we do the calculation ourselves.) The only additional thought I had is perhaps the powers that be can come up with a method, when doing the differential calculation, of giving greater weight to the rounds played more recently than those from 20 rounds ago. I’ve been testing this with an idea I had similar to the way colleges calculate GPA’s based on credits offered by different classes, but honestly, the complexity it adds to the calculation isn’t worth the trouble as any change made has proven to be inconsequential.
