What are some good drills to practice an in to out swing? I am coming over the top slightly and slicing the ball. Also, depending on the day I will hit a push with my club face open a touch. Whenever I try to swing from the inside I find myself hitting it very fat and taking a huge divot before the ball. Any drills to help would be greatly appreciated.

A good simple drill for an in to out swing is the three ball drill basically you set up like this (for a righty).

LF

o

o

o

RF

(LF is your left foot and RF is your right foot, each "o" is a ball... work on hitting just the middle one without hitting the other two... set the balls up fairly close together, if you come out to in you'll hit more than just the center ball.

great visual. that is exactly what i was going to try and say. my very first lesson ever, my coach got rid of my slice. set up a clubhead cover on the very front edge of the ball and to the left about 5 inches...then another clubhead cover along the right edge of the ball back about 10 inches. basically the same thing as the diagram above but with club-head covers so its soft :)

i was trying to figure out the golf swing on my own, and this drill really messed with my leg/hip action, but that being said I drop the club into the slot really well. focus on taking the club back inside, visualizing the swing path you will need, and then on the downswing you will be forced to drop into the slot and swing out. takes practice for sure and you need to be mindful of your alignment throughout the process of this swing change. going from a left-to-right ball flight to a consistent right-to-left ball flight made me question my alignment quite a bit.

i am a bit spastic typing today so sorry if that doesnt make much sense or doesnt help...but that drill above really worked well for me in developing a draw

This is very good advice. Except I would maybe use a couple of tees instead of balls, in case you hit one and it goes flying into some guys shin

I've used a practice routine once in awhile to get myself back into good basics. I would set up in a normal stance, then move my RIGHT foot back as far as is comfortable and maintain balance. (For a right hander. Lefties would move the left foot). Basically, an extreme closed stance. You can't pull across your body and puts the muscle memory back to that inside out in path. A few swings with that, then gradually ease back to a normal stance. Hopefully, the feeling will remain and help keep that correct path.

Thanks for the heads up. Do you have some drills to help me besides the 3 ball drill? Thanks

Its not really a drill but more of a thought.

Go to the top and on the down swing try and put your right elbow into your right pocket, this should put the golf club into the slot.

Good luck!

Depends what you are doing wrong, which we can't say for sure without a video. I used to be a slicer, so I can share what worked for me. I've done lots of things, but there are three essential parts.

Taking the club and hands back on plane. Not really a requirement, but it made it easier coming down for me.
Keeping the head/upper center still (applies to any swing, not just S&T;). Moving the head around can cause lots of trouble.
Sliding the hips forward. This is probably the most important part, which most slicers struggle with. It helps with a number of things in your swing, moving the swing bottom forward and keeping the club on plane being two essential parts.
I used it more as a thought than outright incorporated it  as a loop.  At first I started as a loop on my practice swings till I figured out the right plane and swing and then moved into a normal swing.  It sounds weird but it helped me get rid of an OTT move so maybe it will help him

Edit: for clarity lol
