I know a lot of folks here have an interest in the physics of golf, so when I came across the article in Science News I thought I'd share. This work was done by a Yale physicist with a passion for golf and may improve your putting. Find it here:

I've seen the research on this. A lot more than was published in that article. You get a "spider" effect, and while it's accurate-ish from 10 feet or in, it falls apart fairly quickly after that.

AimPoint is the better way to go.

This was sort of discussed in [url=http://thesandtrap.com/forum/thread/47453/the-perfect-putt-scientifically-proven#post_613981]this thread[/url]. I kind of like the idea for short putts, especially if you don't have a different putt reading method that you use. I've tried to use it when reading short putts with any amount of break, but it doesn't work well for longer putts. I can't say it's helped much with accuracy so far, but it has helped with distance reads on short downhill putts that I notoriously hit long.

This is basically what Geoff Mangum came up with several years ago but AimPoint is definitely the way to go for all green reading information.
