Agreed. (even though my putting is "subpar" at all speeds)

honestly, i think i could putt just as well with a $500 putter as i could with a $50 putter.  actually, i don't even get to that point; my current putter is a $15 ping from i don't know how long ago - i'm guessing mid-80s - that i found in a dark corner of a low-budget golf course pro shop.  it's pretty beat up, but i'm comfortable and confident with it.  i miss a few short ones, but i also make a few long ones, and card maybe 1-2 three putts per round.  i can't even remember the last time i had more than three putts on a green.

That $39 putter once retailed for around $150 so its not exactly like he is putting with some crappy knockoff.

There are many good putters out there, and many of them can be found used for less than half the cost of a new one. I still think anyone is better off playing with a putter manufactured by a reputable company. Ping especially makes great putters and has for years, you can find them all over the place for under $100 new.

That being said I own 6 Scotty's and will never putt with anything but a Scotty Cameron again.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I think it matters a little bit, I remember when I first switched from my wilson starter putter as a kid when my father bought me a whitehot putter, and thinking of how amazing it felt. The only putter I truly could not make a putt with was a Scotty Cameron Futura putter..that thing was absolutely awful.
