Q-STAR (Question Everything) While the evolution of golf ball technology has provided a variety of options for players from a novice to a tour level, finding a ball that's just right can be challenging. The Srixon Q-STAR is an all ability ball, designed with STAR Performance in mind (Spin, Trajectory, Acceleration, and Responsiveness), enhancing total playability on every shot and increasing your ability to shoot lower scores.

This ball is for mid to high handicappers and responds most effectively to driver swing speeds greater than 80 mph. The large core enables greater distance and at the same time its soft feel ensures excellent spin and control on approach shots. Additionally, the visual performance of Pure White and Tour Yellow enables a greater visibility.

  • Highly resilient and soft RABALON® HR+ and PANA-TETRA® blended thin cover
  • Proprietary, large, highly resilient, and soft Energetic Gradient Growth™ core
  • Strong and high trajectory 324-dimple pattern with advanced aerodynamics

At $24.99, seems like a lot of technology for the price.

Also comes in Tour Yellow....nice !!!

Love me some yellow balls.

Question is, has anybody played it yet?

Seeing how it was just released today and, as I understand it, only at Golf Galaxy, I don't think anyone's had a chance.  But for $25/dozen I'm definitely going to give it a shot.

Pretty sure they gave out some demo ones already and I have seen a few reviews on other sites.

I am really excited to try these though. Golfgalaxy.com has free shipping on them right now.

Played this ball earlier this week and let me just say, WOW!!

Much softer than the Bridgestone E5, more spin and just as much distance.

Srixon has set a new standard at this price point, incredible the performance this ball delivers and then you see the ;rice and the fact its a two peice golf ball.

Unreal how good these things are.

I am anxious to try as well.  Picked up a Z star sleeve l at the Golf Galaxy while checking out and was floored at the 12.99 a sleeve price.  Here's hopping the Q star is just as nice with a little pocket relief.

Here is a place where you can buy $2 per and $1 per Z Star. I have ordered from this place and was not disappointed.

I recently started playing the Q-Star and theyre awesome.  Good distance and straighter ball flight but still plenty of spin to stop the ball on the green and a nice, soft feel off the wedges and putter.

Was all set to buy a dozen of the tour yellow Q star's at Dicks today and they only had white.  Not a huge setback as my local shop has the yellows.  But nonetheless strange that Dicks wouldn't sell the tour yellow version.

The Dick's where I got mine didn't even have them on the shelf. I asked if they had some and the guy went in the back and bought out a few dozen. I wanted white but I can only assume they didn't have yellow, he didn't ask and all he bought out from the back was white.

I just want to say I love these.

I love the feel more than anything, amazing feel and spin for a 2 peice ball.

I would imagine a lot of golfers will be suprised when they try these, for $25 bucks, its the best ball on the shelves right now.

100% satisfied and sold of these balls, will be in the bag for quite awhile.

Thanks Srixon.

The search is over. The Q-Star is staying in the bag. Over the last few months I've played a lot of different balls trying to find the one that I like in every aspect of my game. The Q-Star fits perfect. Here's what I've been playing.

Nike 20XI-X

Nike One Tour D

Nike One Vapor Speed

Titleist NTX Tour

Titleist Pro V1

Bridgestone E6

Bridgeston B300 RXS

Taylormade Penta TP

For one reason or another none of the above did everything, driver distance, iron feel, spin around the greens and putter feel. I could get 3 of 4 out of the above, but the Q-Star fits all 4.

Very close. the Q is a bit longer. Feel off the irons is equal. RXS spins just a bit more. The putter feel I like the Q-Star better, the RXS seems very soft a takes a good hit to get it going, where the Q has a soft feel but the ball comes off the putter rolling fast.

Sp the difference is the Q is a little longer?  How about driver spin?

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
