No, Keegan Bradley is not THE future of golf... he is part of it, but isn't going to dominate and win multiple majors each year.

shoot man, i like him. and that's coming from somebody who was rooting against him at the byron cause he was in a playoff with fellow aggie alum ryan palmer. but he showed guts, so i applauded his win. the same guts he showed on sunday. man, what a putt on 17!!! that was why people loved to watch tiger. when he needed to make a 20 ft. double breaker, he made it, and that's exactly what KB did. he had passion and he was pumped up. i hope he sticks around. i don't think he has the talent as rickie, rory, or even AK, but he does have that killer instinct that they seem to lack.

but is he the future? i'll have to say no. i think tiger is still the future for at least the next 5 years. then we'll see.

He will dominate golf for the next 20 years and win 17 majors.

It's obvious isn't it?

How could one think otherwise?

My question is, why do we have to label every golfer that comes along?  Why can't we just watch the guys play golf and enjoy what they are doing without putting labels on them?  All this does is puts added pressure on the player.  It adds that much more media attention to him.  And then when he makes some mistakes or has a bad run, he gets written off....for example, Dustin Johnson.  Come on......just let them play golf

Keegan who? Oh that nobody who came out of nowhere to win the lamest major of the year....

Common, congrats to this dude, hes probably got a bright future on tour but... Common man, Nicklaus was the first guy to really come out on the modern media stage and take the professional golf world by storm. It would be more then 30 years later that tiger would come out and one up him.

Outside of those two guys, no one has been the "the guy" for more then a a few tournaments in a row, Ben Hogan was great but his career was marred by injury and subpar competition.

So if history is any indication It will be at least 10-15 years before we see someone who is capable of what Tiger or Jack did.

Until then we will have to settle for the smattering of somewhat exciting young guys we have, but comparing anyone to Tiger or Jack at their best is just setting them up for failure.

I think you guys missed the point on this one.  The OP didn't ask "will Keegan dominate like Tiger and Jack?" He didn't say a word about domination. He wasn't comparing Bradley to Tiger or Jack either.  He was simply asking if he is the future of US golf, which is entirely possible. Probable? I don't know, but it is certainly possible. No one(currently) is going to be like Jack and Tiger. That doesn't mean that we can't have a player or 2 that are just a step above the others, thus making them the future of US golf.  If you are basing the future of US golf on the ability to completely dominate, then there is NO future.

I really think If he saying that 1 man will be the future of US golf then hes automatically comparing them to Tiger and Jack. Just like every talented wing man in the NBA is compared to Jordan.

I think that is a silly way to think about it.  There won't be another Tiger and Jack for some time, if ever. Does that mean that there is no future? What if he has a career similar to his idol Phil with no other US golfers doing much of anything. Phil was a step ahead of any other US golfer outside of Tiger. Is it not possible that he could be a step ahead of other US golfers? All he has to do to be the "future" of US golf is to be better and win more than all of the others. Again, I don't know if it is probable, but it is certainly possible.

    • Yes. If you choose to take the ball out of the bunker instead of taking maximum available relief… it costs a stroke.
    • I got another one today....Number 17. Par 5 that has water left and right on the layup. I smacked a drive down the left side and got a little lazy on the layup and fanned my 6 iron. With 112 to a crowned green I got it to 3 feet and birdie!  Only 5 and 15 is left for this year!
    • Maybe I didn’t explain this properly. Back and front can be confusing.  There was no place in the bunker that didn’t have 2-3 inches of rain water in it, except for a small spot on the slope nearest the pin. If I had dropped there I would be moving 6-7 feet closer to the hole. Since my ball was just inside the bunker, farthest side from the hole, I dropped one club length backward, which brought me out of the bunker. I could not have hit from that deep of water. Are you saying I would have had to take a penalty stroke due to rain water?
    • Day 550, May 5, 2024 Got a good hour in with a typical (for me) two-stick setup: pool noodle angled in front, yardstick on the ground angled 45° behind me.
    • Day 130: Cinco de Mayo Day 7/24 of Full Speed Spectrum training. Difficult training day after struggling to certify my warmup yesterday, and today. Finished 13 mph lower than my training speed on Thursday. Hope to hit some balls today.
