Zach played excellent today, and I think he deserves the title. He made some great shots and made some key putts this weekend.

Not the buzz of a Tiger, but it was cool to see him play well down the stretch. I'm very happy for him.

I agree that he really deserved it. From what I know of his background, he will really appreciate it as well. And, he simply played the best over the last four days.

Congrats, Zach!

Seems like a real down to earth guy. Gotta love when the medium distance hitters come through. So much for lengthening the course.
Congrats to Zach

congrats to zach once again, but i think we can all agree that the masters was wayyy to hard this year. i dont wanna see world class golfers grind out pars and bogeys. the masters shouldnt be about pars and one over 73's. but congrats to zach he outplayed the best in the world for 4 days in some crappy conditions

I thought this guy would be good under pressure when he played in the Ryder Cup. He made some great putts and if I remember right a chip in at the Ryder Cup also.

I'll bet Phil was really happy to put the jacket on Zach instead of Tiger.

No, I don't think we ALL agree. I like seeing the big boys play a course that challenges them on every hole and even every shot.

Congrats to him. Glad to see another American win it besides Tiger or Phil.

USA is real promising in golf for the next 10 years, you figure these guys will be around:
Bubba Watson
Tiger Woods
Zach Johnson
Scott Verplank
Vaughn Taylor

Probably a few other young Americans too I'm forgeting

While I've always liked Scott Verplank, at 43 and after 21 years as a pro, I don't think we'll be seeing anything new from him. In ten years he will have been on the Champions Tour for 3 years.

Yeah, congrats to Zach Johnson. He's a heck of a competitor and it was nice seeing someone really step up their game in a major with Tiger in contention.

I don't think Augusta was too hard at all. I love major championship golf when par is a good number.

While Scott Verplank isn't going to get any better USA golf is finally starting to develop some fine young players. Vaughn Taylor, Lucas Glover, Charles Howell III and Zach Johnson have shown a lot the past year. Add Tiger and Phil and Jim Furyk who aren't old at all and the next couple of Ryder Cup teams could do well.

Zack is a class act and very humble. I was rooting for him down the stretch and appreciated how he played within himself and didn't let the bogey on 17 get him down. I noticed he said he didn't look at the leaderboard until 17 and then he bogeyed that hole. He shook off his jitters and finished will with a delicate chip to gimmie range.

I appreciate seeing course condiditions very difficult. We play in high winds a lot in West Texas and I like seeing the pros really challenged by a course. That's what the majors have always been about, the best playing the best.

i agree with what most people are saying, majors should be difficult and should challenge the top golfers. but i dont really enjoy seeing the top5. at well over par, it would be one thing if the winner was say 1 or 2 under, thats better. it showed he took on a tough course and came out on top. im not sure if anyone got the better of Augusta this week. but on the other hand zach johnson and ch3 give america a strong young group of players.

Charles Howell III comes to mind. Mom & I were disappointed that we didn't see him on TV today.

So does Ben Curtis. I'm sure some people will laugh at that mention, but seriously, he already knows he's capable of winning a major, as he's already done so. Does anyone get less credit for winning a major than he does? He's spent a lot of the last year working on various improvements, and sometimes it pays off (2 wins in '06), and sometimes it doesn't. I can see Tim O'Neal (currently on NWT) being good. When he plays well, he really plays well. And finally someone else from my hometown, Anthony Kim. We all saw him almost win on his second professional start, and then he kept his cool all through Q-School.

I like seeing it in moderation. For the majors, I love these high scoring "who can survive" fests. Leave the winning at 22 under for the weeklies. I like to be reminded on occasion that these guys play the same sport I do.

Vaughn Taylor really impresses me, I hope he can win a major soon and Im sure he will. He is a very humble guy and appreciates the things that come his way. Charles Howell has been working very hard and it will continue to pay off for him.

being a christian, i thought it was totally awesome when zach johnson talked about how he could feel jesus' presence with him out on the golf course and started crying.... you could tell winning definitely meant so much more to him than it would've meant to tiger. so congrats to zach johnson

Not being a christian, i kind of felt, oh man. Leave it alone. If there is a god, i refuse to believe he's concerned about some guy knocking some ball in a hole somewhere. Thank your wife and dad and leave it at that.

"That's Golf!"

If that is what he felt... so be it. I didnt see anything wrong with it although I am also a christian, I dont see how it hurts non-christians for him saying he felt jesus with him. When he was thanking everybody, I didnt think his list was going to end! LOL
