101 today. Two worst rounds in recent history. About time to call it a year.

I think being the first time playing a tournament would cause just about anyone to have trouble. I'd hate to even think about how I'd play in that situation. Hell, I couldn't even play for crap in the fun Erie outing last year, and that wasn't even a proper tournament.

I wasn't nervous or anything. I played with some really cool guys. I was already out of it. I Just couldn't hit anything. I did hit a 294 yard drive on #2 before I hit the next way right, 3 in a bunker, 4 in a different bunker, out, then two horrible pitches and a 3 putt. Kittyhawk is a piece of **** and if you don't keep it in the fairway, you are hitting out of nappy crabgrass or weeds. The greens are slow and inconsistent, so I wasn't putting worth a crap. I'm playing a scramble tomorrow at a nice club. I'll see how it goes there.

I saw that. It will depend on the job situation. Playing it by ear. I'm fighting a relocation to Buffalo. I had a first interview this week that went well. If I get a new job, I'll probably have limited vaca and be extremely busy getting up to speed. Might just drive up early Saturday. To many ??? To commit at this point.

Looked at the calendar. That's air force marathon weekend and I have a bunch of friends coming in to town. Won't be able to make it.

Holy crap the wind out there today. It really tore me up the first 18 I played. On a positive note though, because it was so strong I got 2 drive 340+ recorded on game golf, though those were offset by a couple of 240ish drives too rofl.

Wind didn't seem to bad this morning in NE Ohio, or while I was driving back to Dayton this afternoon.

Not sure what to tell you, but it was pretty strong around here. GG had it at 13 mph, but it was gusty. I think it probably got up to mid 20's mph. Even now it's still showing 11 mph winds. I wish my phone had enough charge to record 2 rounds, because I was able to handle the wind better the second time around and had a few more really long drives with the wind. But really drives with the wind don't really count, they're cheater drives :-) but it's fun to see them nonetheless.

As someone who went to school at Bowling Green, I can tell you that NW Ohio is a whole different game as far as wind is concerned. I think @Jeremie Boop is just far enough north to get into those flat areas where the wind can really rip.

Me to. I've shot rounds that bad but not back-to-back. Totally gutted and too embarrassed to actually admit the final result. Hopefully they throw away those scoreboards in short order. Somehow, I snapped the shaft on my driver on the third tee Saturday. That didn't help. I popped $90 to get an old demo Nike Covert from Dick's to replace it for Sunday's round. That ended up being the only club I could hit on Sunday. Taking a bit of a break from golf might be in order. My swing is complete trash and I don't know what to do about it.

First competitive round... 92. I tripled the two easiest holes on the course.

101 today. Two worst rounds in recent history. About time to call it a year.

You know what... Those are pretty close to the 2 rounds I just had yesterday. 103 and 91, sad thing is that the 91 actually ended up lowering my trending handicap too... I think the main things that kept me from getting upset about my rounds were that I was spending time with the middle child who's about to leave to Texas for a year and I was just out there to try to learn to play in the wind. Hopefully things go better today for you.

I'm starting to get a bit annoyed looking at my differentials... I score pretty darn consistently no matter what course I play, but because there is only one course here that has a decent rating (70.2/121) almost all my lowest 10 scores are from that one course. It makes it feel like, if I want to keep my index going in the right direction, I have to play that same course all the time. The problem is, I like to play other courses to help keep from getting bored and to keep my index more legitimate because I know playing the same course constantly could lead to an index that doesn't transfer to other courses.

I need to find another course or two that has a decent *read as near/or true par rating* that I can add to my regular courses. Maybe I'm off on this, but it makes me feel like any rounds played at these low rated courses is just a waste of my time from a HC index improvement standpoint. I mean, I still have a good time playing whatever course I play, but putting in a score that looks good but ends up being a crap differential kind of taints the experience for me.

Played an outing at The Oasis Club in Liveland today. I was hitting the ball pretty good. Won closest to the pin on a tight sucker pin. Stuck it to 6' and it stood up all day. It's amazing how much better I hit the ball on a nice course. My putting wasn't great, but the aimpoint reads I gave my partners were dead on. They weren't believing me at first, but they were believers by the end of the day. ;-)

Glad things went better today.

How was Oasis? My wife has worked summers at TPC Riversbend since college (teacher by school year). She has a co worker who also picked up a PT job at Oasis. I get out to riversbend a few times a year and have been extended an invite to Oasis. Is it worth the hour drive?

    • That is a 9.8 differential if my calculations are correct. That would be an exceptional score if it is 7.0 less than your handicap index. Congrats
    • I believe that @billchao has suggested that I fall into this category.  .... Although technically I believe he referred to me as an "ass-clown". ... Which at the time seemed like a compliment. 🤷‍♂️
    • LIV golf actually got 2 pages in this month's GOLF magazine. It was kind of interesting. The magazine walked a thin line between bagging on the shortcomings and trying to build it up.  The magazine's main point seemed to be that the managers play a critical roll for each team in LIV. They compared it to baseball managers. To which I though "hmm.... ???"
    • Of course. I was just exaggerating for fun.  At the start of Hogan's era it is estimated that roughly half a million Americans played golf. By the end of his era, about 3.5 million.  During Tiger's era roughly 19 million at the start and nearly 30 million by the end of it.  To look at it another way during Hogan's era less than 0.5% of all high schools had a golf team. Compared to nearly half of all high schools during Tiger's era. If you really want to see a big difference more than 25 times as many Junior High Schools had golf teams during Tiger's era than did High Schools during Hogan's era.  And this says nothing of international competition. Up until 1974 the British used a different golf ball than did the Americans. It wasn't until 1990 that the Brits officially outlawed their "small ball". It wasn't until the 1960's that Americans really started to play in Europe at all. Very few Americans played The Open from the 1930's until the 1960's. The travel sucked and the prize money wasn't worth the trip. Remember air travel to Europe wasn't really a thing until at least the mid-1950's. Before that you would spend 2 weeks at sea.  It is simply not arguable that Hogan faced any where near as stiff of competition as did Tiger. In golf, yes, you play against the course, but the lowest score wins. It's much easier to win if far FAR fewer players are playing.  Personally, I'd suggest that the competition was way better vs Tiger than vs Jack. But at least that's a discussion. I'm sorry but arguing for Hogan's era it's no contest. Tiger definitively and definitely and by every measure faced tougher competition than did Hogan.
    • I watch Bryson and Phil.... on YouTube. Does that count? 🙃
