Who do you go to?

I've got a borrowed 3W that I've got to get out of my bag. Trying to decide how much money I can blow on it.

I went to Beavercreek. The guy there is a top 100 fitter for Ping. He gets discounts on clubs. My tour shaft option was not an upcharge. Though you do have to pay for your club fitting. So it equals out. His club fitting is much better than Golfsmith. You can actually hit balls onto the range because he has a indoor hitting bay.

So if I were to go to him for only a 3W and nothing else, but do you suppose that would run me?

If it is just for the 3-wood I don't think it's worth it. Unless you get the G30, which might be much more discounted. I don't think you would break even on the 3-wood if you throw in the discount then add in the fitting cost.

I guess that doesn't surprise me a whole lot.

The idea of getting something fitted sounds good, but it probably just isn't in the cards. Maybe stick with second-hand and use the money for a lesson or two.

Go to Golfsmith. They have a ton of 1-3 year old model fairway woods. They are basically near mint condition. I got my hybrid for like 15% off. It was a 915 Titliest Hybrid. About 3 months after they came out. They retailed for $250. I got it for about $190.

I can tell from GameGolf that @saevel25 made it out last weekend, but did anyone else? Going out this weekend? Unfortunately, I've been working a lot on my mother-in-law's house trying to get it accessible since she had her leg amputated, but I would like to get out for 9 if nothing else. I'm down in the warm south through Friday.

Side Note: I've made it through round 2 with a company willing to relocate me to Orlando. Round 3 of interviews with senior management should be happening early next week. I might have to start looking for an Orlando thread soon I hope.

I don't think I'll be going out for a bit yet, just got my chest tattoo and trying to swing a club right now would probably feel pretty painful. I will need to get out sometime between now and April 9/10 when I go to VA to golf with those guys. Good luck with the final interview.

With my line of work, I've been down to one-half day off per week. Shot a 94 on Hawk last week. Now that its April, not sure I'm going anywhere this weekend. Boss may let me go, but I'm not counting on it.

Not sure the weather is cooperating enough. Probably just keep moving forward with my mother in law's house.

Looks dry and a bit cool tomorrow. Winds gonna be a bitch though.

Boss is actually sounding pretty happy with what we've got done, so I might escape tomorrow afternoon. With the wind up, I might go to Community.

So the goofs at Kittyhawk failed to process my Association renewal. Went to post my first round of the season and it seems that I'm inactive. Trying to decide whether to bother or just get my $40 back, particularly with the play alone rules.

Speaking of which, is anyone up this weekend?

I don't think I'm renewing. 90% of my rounds are played solo. Besides, I had my 3rd interview for the Orlando job yesterday and it went very well. If they felt the same way, then I will be scheduling a trip to visit onsite and start packing up all the stuff.

I'm not sure what the weekend looks like for me. As nice as it was, I didn't play last weekend. I'm still trying to get the mother-in-law's house finished as well as my own.

Good luck with all that. I've heard they have a few golf courses down that way.

I'd guess I'm probably around 90% solo as well. Aside from simply being a measurement for me, the only use the number got last year was the KHMA Club Championship. Hardly the sort of thing that should need to be peer-reviewed. I'm still considering whether to simply ignore the rule or not.

    • I hear you, that price is ridiculous. I’ve been dealing with AS pain for a recently, and it really messes with your game. I tried everything—painkillers, stretches, you name it—but honestly, cannabis helped me more than I thought. It didn’t take all the pain away, but it eased the stiffness and helped me move more freely, which is huge for golf. I could actually swing without feeling like my back was gonna snap.
    • Day 245 (4 Jan 24) - Colder blustery day (temps in the upper 30’s), so I opted to work with the 7i in the back yard, hitting 30-40 yds pitches.  Stayed within pre-shot process and working smoothly thru downswing and ball.  Nice easy day reinforcing short game work in the pitch and roll arena.
    • Okay, so like 5-6 years ago a buddy of mine and I are playing golf in Nevada. Not a tournament, but we're betting 20 bucks a side. I don't think this actually affected the outcome but I'm curious how you all would have ruled this.  We are playing a hole in which on one side of the concrete cart path is the grass on the other side is rocky, desert. My buddy hits his tee shot which comes to rest on the other side of the cart path under a prickly ugly bush. He's right handed but he turns his 7-iron upside down and addresses the ball left handed, with the club upside-down. Then he says "I get relief because I'm standing on the cart path."  "Okay" I say.   Then he drops the ball (from the shoulder as this is pre-2019) on the "good" side of the cart path within 2 club lengths no closer to the hole.  I believe he should have had to hit from the crappy side of the cart path, by dropping the ball within 2 club lengths no closer to the hole.  My contention is the nearest point of complete relief is in the desert. His contention is as long as it's within 2 club lengths no closer to the hole he can drop anywhere he wants. Who's right?  Okay, now the kicker. He declares his ball in play. Now admittedly it is less than 2 club lengths from where it came to rest and isn't any closer to the hole. Then he addresses his ball (7 iron again) right handed this time and declares he gets relief again, because he's standing on the cart path. ... Which he is.  He drops again, and now he's on the fairway, not even in the rough.  So, with two drops and no stokes he's moved from under a bush in the desert, to the rough, to the fairway.  Here's a picture which may help.   So he hits his 7 iron on the green. No penalty. I guess he may be right, but it's always felt shady and we've poked fun at each other over this incident for years now.  What do you all think?
