Great seeing you guys again!

@Jeremie Boop @mcanadiens and @missitnoonan even though he never bring HS his sorry a$$ on here.

Was nice getting a round in with you, except for my exceptionally bad golf, it felt like old times :-)

I should go to the range and sort out whatever is causing me to block everything straight right, but even as badly as I played I can't seem to get the motivation to do so.... Probably just wrote off this year because of my lack of ability to get out and play.

I've never been there, but it looks like Miami Valley Golf Club must be in a fair bit of trouble. They are waiving the initiation fee and apparently you just need to pay $286 per month for a full golf membership.

That's still way out of my budget, but you have to wonder if they are getting desperate.

Hi All,

My hometown's in Ohio! Alternate between Dayton and Cleveland half the year. Travel lots for work. Currently in Cali but will be back soon. I'd love to connect for a round of golf or hit the range together when I'm in town. If nothing else, we can talk shop :)

Shoot me a PM. Would love to meet.

Howie

@CarlSpackler

I finished the last three holes on the Hawk with a grounds crew member yesterday and he told me that Dalton is moving to Community permanently and will be replaced by none other than ... Zachary Fink. Your old buddy from GCC (or Gem City as he called it).

If you are still looking for money, you'll know where to find it.

Interesting.

I will be up there in a few weekends if y'all want to get a round in before the snow starts falling.

I'm sure I'll be around. ... If what the grounds crew guy said is true, Fink probably won't start at Kittyhawk until he gets Rollandia wrapped up, so he probably won't be.

Billy is putting something together for Monday.

As much as I'd love to come along, I have no funds for golf until payday on Wednesday.

Sorry. Been on vacation and mostly offline for the past three or four days. It probably would have beat what I did do yesterday, but people had other ideas for me.

You should move this to a Club.

I'd recommend you create a Dayton, OH club or a "Western Ohio" Club or something.

I’m back. The movers are scheduled to pick up my stuff on 10/30. Not much of a golf season left though.

Created a group a few weeks (?) ago and I’m waiting on it to be approved.

You know Kittyhawk is open as long as the ground isn't frozen solid. I'd say we got two more months if you're hard enough.

    • I agree.  I once played an inter club match, before the change,  and one of our opponents used a small flat seashell for a marker.  At some point, my partner picks up that shell, thinking it was just a small piece of debris.  An argument ensued, and to be honest I don't remember the result.  But requiring an artificial marker eliminates that kind of misunderstanding.
    • I think it's just to provide clarity. If you marked your ball with a pebble or a small twig, that's a loose impediment, and someone else could move it. An "obstruction" or a man-made thing, or an artificial thing, isn't a loose impediment.
    • Day 243 (2 Jan 25) - Grandson directed drills today - he wanted to hit easy pitches into the holes of the Martin bird house (had it at ground level) - it is doable but it calls for a perfectly executed shot.  He came close a couple of times.  For me it’s about distance control and such.  Drill two - me hit same foam balls to him while he’s in the swing saucer - into a slight wind…now it’s distance control plus anticipating the wind.  A fun exercise - got really close on a number of shots.  Drill three - take his youth Cobra SW and hit flops into to the foam ball basket while he was holding it. Great eye-hand work for him - wedge control for me.  That little wedge  works well.  By the end my junior coach was done and I was too….
    • Going to give this a try for a while and see if it sticks.  Day 1 Today was some full practice: 30 minutes of range work focused on coordinating weight transfer based on Evolvr feedback 10 minutes putting speed control work 10 minutes chipping practice with random targets 5 minutes bump and run work with 7 iron
    • Day 23: 1/2/2025 Had a great range session today. It was downright frigid this morning at the range, but the overhead heater made it tolerable. I started off working on my PPJ swing thought. Some slower, swings, somewhat exaggerating the movements. Then I switched focus and just hit the 6-iron about a half dozen times without thinking. I filmed two of these swings to send to Yoda.  After that, I worked my way up and down the bag (random practice... yay.) Hitting one shot with each club aiming at a specific target. I tried to focus on where and not how. Over all, I was pretty impressed with my results.  If you categorize each shot as either good, bad or good enough. I would say nearly all of them were either in the good or good enough category. Again, yay.  I'm going to do some more mirror work tonight, looking at my videos I think I can still improve what I'm doing. But over all, I was really happy with today's range session. I feel like I've had a giant leap forward in my swing. We shall see if the progress can continue.  Yay.
