The story came down on Mr. Walther and his exploits at Community Golf Course. Gambling problems were the root of it apparently. Kittyhawk is my home course, but I play Community a fair bit as well. Sad for him and a shame for my fellow City of Dayton golfers. $60,000 less that could have been used to improve our courses.

Very sad. These things tend to happen when you bring casinos into your town.

Good news.

The City bought Kittyhawk a lawnmower. Now we'll have a 1/2 shot of find our balls this spring.

The Super is pumped up.

Lawnmower is only half the battle, now they just need to actually have a crew able to keep up with maintenance.

KICK THE FLIP!!

Was told last night that he has a crew of 20 and "some of them may even stick around." Whatever that means.

I imagine that it's a pretty high turnover position. Sounds like the best time to hit to courses would be about a month after everyone starts. That way they've learned their jobs and they're still new enough to care.

In Kittyhawk's case. It's when its late enough that the grass isn't growing so darned fast.Ah. I'm too cynical. The guys at the spring meeting were actually saying the courses are looking half decent. That's high praise coming from that lot.

Funny. They had several down and only bought one???

Honestly, I wasn't paying that close attention. I ate dinner, paid dues and headed back to the office.

Well, I've hit rock bottom. Can't do diddly poo. So bad now that I am considering lessons for the first time ever.

Anyone have experience with Dayton-area instructors? One of my KHMA guys suggested Chris Hale (only $100 per half hour- Bar-goon). @CarlSpackler, you visited that guy's place didn't you. The North Dayton Golf Academy?

Nope. Have never been there. At $200/hour, you can buy a good camera, tripod, and sign up for Evolvr.

Oh. I thought that you had mentioned that place at some point in the distant past. Maybe that was someone else.

Perhaps with those dollar figures, I should consider the whole video/internet bit. What I'm wondering is how long it would take for someone like me to get results out of that versus an in-person instructor. At this point, it might really be another start over anyway more than a single bit that I should work on.

So I happened to run across this google review for the beleaguered Moss Creek Golf Club. @Jeremie Boop may recall trying to play this one Saturday afternoon a few years ago.

No idea who Mr. Woodard is, but pure class.

in the last week-
we are working on the course and it is getting better each day. It will be playable again. By the way anyone who says that it sucks is a *ucking *sshole

That was the Chi Chi course right? I'm happy they are fixing it up because I really think it had potential, however not exactly the way you'd want someone representing a course to act.

Some one or another has been "fixing it up" for the last 8-10 years, so don't hold your breath. That last bit of Wyatt's definitely isn't a good look.

It's a great layout. With some TLC, it could be one of the best courses in town.

No question about the bones, but it isn't "some TLC" it a lot.

Last time I was out there, I completely wrote off trying to putt on those greens. It helped my mood that it was a decent day off the tee. Four-jack it and get to next tee to hit driver again. The bunkers made the Kitty's look good by comparison. Haven't heard anything specifically about this year yet, but last year they weren't cutting the rough. It's gotten such a bad reputation that they could fix it up and nobody would ever know.

I think you would be amazed how quickly it could recover.
