It has been a good journey, my friend.

And, if anyone is looking for some ocean-front property in Idaho… @mvmac is your guy!

Good luck to you Mike. How long does it take to get your amateur status back @mvmac

Ocean-front Idaho? :hmm:

It depends on the "offense". I have to wait about a year before I apply for reinstatement. From there it should be pretty simple since I never played in a tournament as a pro.

I did talk with the USGA and was able to get what's called a PAR letter. It gets the ball rolling and specifies what I can play in during my time waiting for reinstatement:

Quote

You are not eligible to enter competitions limited to amateur golfers except that you may enter competitions and win a conforming prize (not to exceed a value of $750)  solely among members of a club where you are a member, subject to the approval of the club. You may also, without prejudicing your application, enter as an applicant for reinstatement (A/R) competitions where professionals, amateurs, non-amateurs and applicants for reinstatement may participate. You may not enter these competitions as a professional or as an amateur. In order to avoid jeopardizing your pending application, you must enter these competitions as an applicant for reinstatement. You should ask the committee in charge of the competition if applicants for reinstatement may participate in the competition

Mike thanks for your valuable time and assistance over the past few years. I know you have contributed countless hours commenting on members swings, filming videos, posting about the swing, etc.

Your advice has helped me a great deal and I'm sure many others can say the same. Glad to hear you will still be posting on the site. Best of luck in your real estate career and your amateur golf career!

    • Day 27 (17 July 26) - Normally an 18 hole day, but due to commitments abbreviated the round to 9 holes (played the back nine at home course).  Had a solid session where even the worst miss (tee shot off 18) was fully playable.  Shot a solid 39 (6pars, 3bogies) - not dbls, no three putts - just boring golf.
    • Overall, well said. People have to be very careful in trying to describe very complex problem in simple terms. In this case, it is a clear fundamental misunderstanding of Newton's 1st and 3rd laws.  To clarify more on the misinterpretation of Newton's 1st law. The exact interpretation of Newton's 1st Law....  "Every body continues in its state of rest, or of uniform motion in a straight line, unless it is compelled to change that state by forces impressed upon it" yea, a body will stay motionless unless a force acts upon it. An object will stay on its path of motion unless a force acts upon it.  I get it, complex physics problems are difficult. There is a lot of simplification done in most physics class when it is taught. A classic problem uses a frictionless surface. Projectile motion excludes drag and wind direction. Collisions are usually elastic. The golf swing is not a simple physics problem.  Yea, I think they got caught up the data on the graphs and are not truly understanding cause and effect.  If the golfer isn't first pushing into the ground, then the ground isn't going to push back.  The internal forces of the body create the motion, not the external forces from the ground. The ground isn't like what Psy uses to start his concert. 🤣 You probably need to be connected to the ground and have those GRF to help the body produce the motion you want. Your body has to move in the right way to produce the GRF which helps you move the body in the way you want. Body motion precedes the GRF.

    • I think that's mostly about lowering the CG. 🙂
