  1. 1. Assuming the same scoring average, would you rather be consistent or erratic?

    • I prefer consistency with most of my rounds close to my average.
      23
    • I'd rather have some really good and some really bad rounds.

I see a lot of people here looking for consistency, but hey, I'd much rather shoot half my scores under 75 and the other half over 95, then shooting 80-85 with little chance of going under.  I'd rather have greatness and failures than live with mediocrity.

Then again, if my scores are that far apart, something is seriously wrong.

If I ever get all facets on track on the same day, there's still the putting. Get that at least to average (i.e. to The Sandtrap Forum average which I think is about 27 putts per round) and my scores will surely fluctuate more. When I take 32 putts (last round) that means I took 4 more 1-putts than 3-putts. That's stellar for me.  Looking forward to some erratic rounds in the future!!

I think it more stems from the fact that when speaking of scoring people don't generally go back into memory further than their past several rounds, which may have all be in that sort of range.

My last 5 rounds were within 5-6 shots, and yes I counted every stroke. That said, all of my rounds are not so closely placed.

Its just a bit of ego reinforcement that they're displaying; whatever makes ya feel better. Trust me, its not ignorant, they definitely have the knowledge of all of their scores. They just picked the 5 best. No skin of my nose; its their game, not mine. ;)

I picked inconsistent because for any given handicap it would mean I'd win a few tournaments (and lose a few by a lot!) If I was consistent I'd always lose to someone having the round of their life....

Seriously though, I picked inconsistent as I see your best rounds as your true potential....... and the lower the better!

Yea well it happens.  I guess you are just better than me.  What is bad is I was -1 through 7 then hit a shot right down the middle in a tournament couldn't find my ball and had to go re tee.  After that I was so pissed that I just slapped the ball around and drank heavily.   My mental game is real strong right now.

Consistent doesn't exist......not over the long haul.  Maybe for a week/2/3 at most..................

If I were able to get out on the course more often, I'd definitely prefer more consistency. That said, I don't golf enough to expect a solid round each and every time I go out. I don't even expect to shoot a poor round each time I go out! For me, half the fun is not knowing what I'm gong to put up that day. 80 or 100...I still love to play!

I am pretty consistent I have 1 score this year over 80 and the wind had to be blowing 50+ mph. In my last 20 rounds I go from a high of 76 to a low of 65. 10 of my last 20 scores are between 69 and 72. This year I have become very consistent even when I play away from my home course which was one of my goals.

    • Day 50 - 2024-11-19 Hit about 20 balls focusing mostly on the backswing. That's going to be my November and December.
    • They need to do something to speed  up play. They could randomly  time  players. One  idea would  be  if a group gets  out  of  position they are disqualified. If its a group of  3 and  its  1 player playing like  molasses i can imagine an exciting interaction, lol
    • I agree with @dennyjones, a suspension of some meaningful duration would be better than getting bounced from the Tour. They might consider experimenting each week. It might generate a bit of interest. I like the idea of a visible shot clock. If a player and their caddy can’t decide on a strategy and pull the trigger in XX seconds (30? 45? 60?), one stroke penalty. Give each player 2 resets a round. The clock starts when the last player to hit’s ball stops moving. Other pace ideas could be used every couple events until a consensus is reached to adopt or ditch an idea.
