I'm at the point where I really need to start to video my swing so I can see what's really going on there. I have a CISCO HD FLIP cam that takes really nice video. Does anyone know how well it works for swing analysis? I lost the manual so I have no idea what its fps is, but obviously it has very high res as its an HD camera.

Thanks guys.

I'm pretty sure it's 60fps at 720p which is a bit slow for swing analysis video as you'd want something that's at least 120 fps.  It's better than nothing so you might want to give it a try and see how it works for you.  You should be able to at least look at angles through different positions of your swing.

I don't even think it's that fast... I'm pretty sure its 30 fps.  My first few videos in my "My Swing" thread were with a Flip camera.  It's ok and definitely better than nothing, but you can do a lot better for cheap.  Try checking out some of the stuff that Casio makes.  I have the EX-FS10 and it does a great job (210 fps at a decent resolution).  It is much easier to see what you and the club are doing at the higher fps.  By the way, I picked up my camera for less than $100... completely worth it.

I just looked it up, the Ultra HD Flip is 30/60 fps at 720p and 30fps at 1080p.

Nice... I have an older one and it's just 30fps; that's what I as going off of.  At 60fps it should work out ok, but something around 200 would be much, much better.

I don't really have the cash (at least thats what my wife tells me) for a new camera so i guess I'll just fart around with the flipcam for now. I already can see some interesting stuff from the videos I did take.

I'm definitely getting my weight forward BUT I seem to move the majority of it forward DURING the backswing as opposed to the downswing. My head stays pretty still which is nice because I was convinced that it was dipping significantly more.

The weight shift and slight head dip all seem to happen in conjunction with my lead knee flexing towards my toe at the start of my backswing - does that sound like I'm on the right track or am I just building on some bad habits? Its gonna snow soon so I don't know if I'll be able to post a swing:-(

If you have the video handy, post them up in a "My Swing" thread.

    • Its way past time both tours  have  major  penalties for  slow  play. I  hate  it when they say" This group is  on the  clock". Big damn deal. Issue  penalties. Maybe Hull is a  bit too harsh but  its time a slew  of  2 stroke  penalties start  being  issued.     Charley Hull is fed up with slow play on the LPGA, so she offered a ‘ruthless’ solution “I’m quite ruthless, but I said, ‘Listen, if you get three bad timings, every time it’s a tee shot penalty; if you have three of them, you lose your Tour card instantly.’ I’m sure that would hurry a lot of people up, and they won’t want to lose their Tour card. That would kill the slow play, but they would never do that.” Who knows if that will work. But if it does not, maybe the PGA Tour should adopt Hull’s idea. The LPGA should, too, or at least assess penalty strokes for slow play. Five-hour rounds for a final group on Sunday is unacceptable and a quick way to lose interest and engagement from fans.

    • A hair under 190. It was pretty downhill, though, so I think we were playing between 180-185 to the pin. My 6 iron went 187 according to shot scope and ended up 18 feet away.
    • That's a tough pin on 14 at TR, had to make the hole play much longer, how far was that shot? I've only played that hole with a front pin.
    • No, but I spent (marginally) less time in the trees at Southern Pines, so it definitely played wider for me 😆. It definitely felt wider.
