I'm considering buying a system such as the V1 with 2 cameras and install it at home.

The question is, is it worth $1700 ? Or would it be better to just rent it at the academy once in a while?

And is a system like this mainly just good for 1 swing?

Anyways, just wondering if it's a good purchase for a non-teaching purpose or not.

I have a macbook as well as PC.

I'm thinking of having this system like an instant slomo playback after every single swing to check on. Like the V1 I was using today at the facility.

Even if you get V1 you're unlikely to be able to find the cameras it uses to do what you're looking to do. Casio hasn't made the EX-F1 for years now.

I see... I thought that the cameras are included.

But those cameras , I'm pretty sure I can still find them when I go back to Japan.

Any ways, what would be a good idea for me to have at this point?

Or again... is going to the facility the best bet?

Alot cheaper solutions out there.  All you really need is to find your own camera that is compatible with v1golf or if you have a mac the analyzer software and it sounds like you already have the pc.  The v1golf software for home is like 20 bucks and all you need is the camera.  Even an iphone is a viable solution since it has the v1golf software too and the camera is decent enough with alot of light.

I really don't recommend cameras capable of only 30 FPS. Or even 60 FPS.

Check out http://analyzrgolf.com/ and consider getting an FH-25 (still some in Japan) or an FH-100 (still some everywhere) or a ZR-100 if you must. The more light the faster the shutter speed, but 240 is a good framerate.

V1 sucks. I don't know if people understand how high the cost of building Analyzr was, but on day one we said "this was worth it simply because we never have to use V1 again!"

Stink/suck may be a "bit" strong as, of course, V1 has many happy "Windows" customers...but really V1 is sub-par at best. I see you are a Mac user and I can honestly say the only reason anyone should ever use V1 would be if they are "afraid" of the move to Mac.

Anyway...you asked for reasons.  Besides the fact (which may or may not be the most important point) that V1 is more than TWICE the cost, Analyzr is just so much simpler to use in almost every "real instructor/student" way.  The way it imports (with scrubbing being HUGE) saves tons of time...the filter for searching rather than the ridiculous V1 bins from which you can organize nothing...the ease of getting notated (or not) photos OUT of Analyzr and to a friend, student, whatever...the fact that you can analyze videos for students or friends and export without having to pay extra for it...the ease of using Analyzr and youtube to create your own models library while leaving out the 1986 Patty Sheehan swings :>).  Should I go on?  Frankly...just visit analyzrgolf.com - check it out or download the demo version.  Like I said, for well less than half the price you get a piece of software with the EXACT things serious golfers and instructors need.

Right but, unless you are an instructor I can't see how the cost is any cheaper.  V1 basic is free and home is 39.

He's talking about spending $1700 on V1. He doesn't seem to be talking about the Home version.

The Home and free versions of V1 are annoying and limited. Analyzr Student still gives you better playback, resizable viewers, better looking tools, exporting still images, a library, etc.

so with Analyzr, I assume I'll need:

My Macbook

2 cameras to capture and that's it?

I believe the V1 has an auto motion capture so that you don't have to keep pressing buttons on the laptop

to start / stop, correct?

V1 is acceptable (just) for iPhones but the PC version (basic) is awful. There is no way I'm upgrading to Premium.

Will Analyzer ever be available on Windows? Even a limited version?

Analyzr is simply amazing.  It was being developed about the time that I started videoing my own swing... At first I had downloaded the free version of V1 for my laptop and honestly it wasn't very good, but at the time there was nothing else available.  I also have an iMac and was lucky enough to find out about the development of Analyzr and to help test it.  It is much simpler to use and has a great features.  In the "Students" section of the library, I have multiple videos of my own swing, all organized by date and they are tagged with which view... I also have the same thing for my wife's swing as well as a buddy of mine.  There is also a "Models" section where I have downloaded from YouTube (from within the Analyzr itself) the swing of different pros for comparison.

As to whether or not the pro version of V1 is worth the $1700 all I can say is that you could by yourself a new Mac ( Mac mini starts at $599 + $200 or so for a monitor ), Analyzr Pro ($499), and 2 Casio EX-ZR 100s ( $250 each on Amazon )... So for a total of $1800 you get your two cameras, software that is leaps and bounds better than the competition, and a new computer.  Or you could save spend the $1700 on V1, use it on your old Windows computer and still have to shell out $500 for the cameras.

Anyways... I honestly love Analyzr and I think that it is by far the best out there... (There's a reason one of the testimonials on their site is from me)

Thanks.

Analyzr doesn't support auto-recording because not many cameras made these days can even do that. The EX-F1 can do it but they're $3k apiece these days. And if you record every swing, your database gets HUGE really, really fast.

You don't need to record every swing. Record one, work for awhile, record and check your progress.

This is one of the biggest reasons (not the only, just one of the biggest) that I will replace my iMac with another Mac when the time comes to do so... I can't lose Analyzr.

    • Its way past time both tours  have  major  penalties for  slow  play. I  hate  it when they say" This group is  on the  clock". Big damn deal. Issue  penalties. Maybe Hull is a  bit too harsh but  its time a slew  of  2 stroke  penalties start  being  issued.     Charley Hull is fed up with slow play on the LPGA, so she offered a ‘ruthless’ solution “I’m quite ruthless, but I said, ‘Listen, if you get three bad timings, every time it’s a tee shot penalty; if you have three of them, you lose your Tour card instantly.’ I’m sure that would hurry a lot of people up, and they won’t want to lose their Tour card. That would kill the slow play, but they would never do that.” Who knows if that will work. But if it does not, maybe the PGA Tour should adopt Hull’s idea. The LPGA should, too, or at least assess penalty strokes for slow play. Five-hour rounds for a final group on Sunday is unacceptable and a quick way to lose interest and engagement from fans.

    • A hair under 190. It was pretty downhill, though, so I think we were playing between 180-185 to the pin. My 6 iron went 187 according to shot scope and ended up 18 feet away.
    • That's a tough pin on 14 at TR, had to make the hole play much longer, how far was that shot? I've only played that hole with a front pin.
    • No, but I spent (marginally) less time in the trees at Southern Pines, so it definitely played wider for me 😆. It definitely felt wider.
