Titleist 910 D2 or Taylormade R11?

Uh, have you actually hit them and tried out how they feel?  Looked at data?    Seems that would be the place to start.

I have the R11 TP and love it. I hit 71.4% of my fairways today and hit 53.4% on average. I attribute a lot of my latest success to my R11 as it is very forgiving. But I haven't hit the 910/D2 though... Food for thought... Also I read an article that Taylor Made is releasing a new driver in February, and they are saying it is 20+ yards longer than the R11. So you may want to wait until February to pull the trigger on a new driver.

This is exactly what you should do...

Back in July my entire set got stolen and after a bit of online shopping I thought I wanted the Titleist AP2s and an R11 driver.... went to GolfSmith and hit everything I could.... ended up with TaylorMade TP MC irons and a 910 D2 for my driver... The 910 (with the RIP shaft) gave me the best numbers so it is what I went with.  I suggest that you hit both, but if you want to go off of what I like, choose the 910.

R11?? Fugly...I hate it. Someone I know bought one and gave it back to the proshop to flog if off and get what ever he could for it. Went back to the R9. Pros? Its adjustability, thats about it.

910?? I love its stealthy black looks and how it sets up, its muted sound and adjustability. I demoed this driver (D3) and really liked it, but I gained little to nothing over the driver I was using at the time, So I really could not justify the $450 price tag. Cons? Nothing really, Its a great driver.

Hit them both.... Have a 910m didn't like the R11 felt horrible IMO

Another driver ........has the Taylormade website got a poll on "WHAT COLOUR WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR BRAND NEW MODEL TAYLORMADE DRIVER THIS MONTH"

As for the original question, my preferrence is for the Titleist, however you have to try before you buy.

They are both really solid drivers, but you will find a mixed bag of opinions from everyone on this site. I have the R11 and have never had any issues with its appearance. I guess results are what I base my opinion off of. Good Luck

I am also in between drivers at the moment. Right now i am demoing the Titleist 910 D3 and i love it, but before i buy it i want to hit the R11 first, just so i know which driver i like best

From what I've heard and tested, the 910 has more control, but the R11 has more distance. Sounds like you can't go wrong with either.

Accuracy, distance, shot shape, trajectory, etc. is more about the shaft than the head, assuming you make a good swing.  I hit both the R11 and D3 before settling on the D3.  I really, really like the Mitsubishi Ahina for Titleist shaft (formerly known as Whiteboard), and obviously the R11s at the shop didn't have that shaft so it's hard to make a direct comparison.  I ended up going with D3 for several reasons:  really liked the way the ball felt and sounded coming off of the face, didn't like the white so much, and the launch characteristics of the shaft were better in the Ahina than whatever I was hitting in the R11.

Also good to note, the Titleist has independently adjustable loft and face angle.  The R11 changes the lie angle, and their adjustment "chart" is confusing to me.  Seems like if you want to add more loft to the driver, then you have to open the face and flatten the angle.  Obviously I never quite comprehended how their adjustments worked, which probably contributed to me going with D3.

I've got the D3 9.5, adjusted down to 8.75 with the neutral (.5-deg open) setup.  Ahina for Titleist 73 gram shaft, X-flex.  It's a bomber, and I can work it to the right pretty easy.  Left is a little tougher, but that's probably because I'm starting with a half-degree open face.  When I set up for a big swing though (wide stance, right foot slightly open) I typically get a high, sweeping draw (and occasionally a low snapper).

Also FYI I have the R11 version hybrid, because I didn't like the head shape on the titleist (didn't inspire confidence) and I've always used TM hybrids.  Anyway, the white paint is peeling on the toe and the back of the hosel.  It's a pretty thick acryllic coating, moreso than a paint.  Somewhat irritating, as it makes the club look "used" even though I've only had it 4 months and hit it maybe 50 times.

I actually was debating on the same 2 clubs a month or so ago. I read as many reviews and comments as I could on both.

The only really negative review or comment on the D2 was how confusing the adjustment chart was. Since I don't own the D2, much less hit one, I really can't say anything positive or negative about it.

As far as the R11, you will have people who either love or hate the club. Many complaints I've read is that it is made by TM (some people just hate all TM proucts), or the white color. As far as which is longer, I can't answer that. But the comments and reviews sided more with the R11.

I purchase the R11, mainly because I got an excellent deal on the Driver and 3-wood combo. For me, the white club head took all of 5 minutes to get used to. Definately the longest and most solid driver I've ever owned. Adjustability was so easy! The one thing that may take some getting used, at least for me, was the sound at impact. Other than that, I love the R11 and don't see anything replacing it anytime soon.

This mumbo jumbo gets thrown around every year ( 20 yard longer etc )...by the time I am 50, drivers will be hitting the ball 4,000 yards.

I hate the white head.  Another thing is that no it wont and neither will any other driver on the market give you an extra 20 yards or maybe even 10 over your current driver unless yours is very very old.  The only good thing about the current drivers are the customization features and they are slightly more forgiving than ones of a few years back. The way to go is to get optomized for your current driver or for a new one.  I tried the titleist 910d2 as well and it does feel really nice of the face but it is very similar to the r11 results wise except for that stupid white head.  In all honesty I wouldn't buy either because it just doesn't seem worth it to me.  I currently have an r7 quad  the only difference between it and those two drivers is that they are ever so slightly easier to hit and they feel a bit better to hit but there is very very little difference on the course.  especially for a £200 price tag and for a club that i  will only use on about 10 holes a round.

Thank you all for the comments, but I ended up buying the R11 and it was a great choice. My friend got the D2 and I could care less which one I use, both are phenomenal. There is no wrong choice between the two.
