I was playing with my daughter the other day we got paired with another couple, probably in their late 50's early 60's . She wasn't unatractive but very pleasant.

She played very well, not very long but very straight and her short game was very good.

We got to the fourth hole and she stuck it on the green about ten feet from the pin, my approach was just inside her at about eight feet.

When we got to the green she looked me straight in the eye and said "You just want to get inside me on every hole don't you?"  Well, that was it her husband just walked away laughing and I didn't know what to say. My daughter (14yr old) said "Yes, he's very competetive" .

after that my head was all over the place, my concentration was shot. Lol

Really ... double entendre from some old bitty was enough to put you off your game?

Really...concentration was blown after a great comment like that?  You've got some major work to do in the head case department.  Couch reservations anyone?

It really was a bit awkward, I had my 14 yr old daughter with me and although I don't think the woman meant it as an offer, looking back I maybe could have turned it around if you know what I mean!

Taking my stance over almost every approach shot after that her voice was in my head lol.

I'm sure she didn't realize what she said and the way it could have sounded. You should have replied something like "Well, if you don't think your husband will mind". Some type of joking response would have got the thought out of your head and not ruined your round, and it would have been pretty funny when she realized what she said.

It's an old joke ... of course she knew how it sounded.

I heard this one about 20 years ago. It's a very old "joke".

And not even a particularly funny one, unless you are 12.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

It sounds like she may have been there when it was first told.

It was hot the first time she said it ... Tom Morris blushed.

No, he'd have thought, "Oh why the F did I go and say that to that old lady - especially with my 14 year old daughter here?!?!?"

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
