Counterargument--

Think about the number of times you've thought about sex while playing golf.

Compare that to the number of times you've thought about golf while having sex.

Should be obvious which one you'd rather be doing.

You get to have different partners every time you play - even complete strangers who you've never met before.   And your spouse won't be bothered by this.

Sorry for the double post, I couldn't edit and I thought of more:

You can practice by yourself in public parks without getting arrested.

Stroke play by yourself is a lot more satisfying than a foursome.

You get a raincheck if you can't play on any given day.

If your partner isn't satisfied at the end, it's not your fault.

They objectively rank players; you could be the definitive #1 in the world at golf, and remain high on the rankings into your 50s.

You can take a hot shower to take your mind off a bad round.

You only need to put down your cigar and drink for a few seconds at a time. (Though for some of you, this could be either.)

If you get it done with the fewest strokes, you're doing well.

You can swap out for a stiffer shaft.

Golfing with your boss is seen as a good decision.

Scuffed balls are a lot less painful.

A bad round carries less shame.

You can brag about a great round to the kids.

If your supervisor catches you golfing on your shift, it's a lot less awkward.

You still get plenty of feel when using a glove.

Explaining to your kids about golf isn't as embarrassing.

      _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.

      Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.

      I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.

      I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
