What about Gmac and Bjorn? Not a Tiger-hater but c'mon, there are other stories in the field.

Rory isn't returning form a long hiatus from competitive golf, is not the former dominating Number 1, didn't crash his car into a fire hydrant, have sex with multiple woman while married, do a terrible 'apologetic' press conference, fire his swing coach, fire his caddy or change his entire swing

Tiger Woods is more interesting I guess?

Rory played well no doubt, and I liked Gmacs shot off the grandstand to 6 feet.

Rory made the Wozzilroy sandwedge, I think that's pretty badass!

I don't think two bad pitches over the course of an entire round equates to needing a "LOT of work."

With how poorly he drove the ball and how bad his distance control with his approach shots during the final round, it's somewhat of an achievement that he broke even par.

Regarding some other comments about still not being mentally ready, I actually think he is.  I don't think he had a mental issue yesterday, I believe it was technical.  My rationale is that, if his ball striking were this poor during a round over the past two seasons, he would likely have shot 76+.  He didn't have the short game or the mental toughness to stay with it when things were going poorly the past couple years.  He has been rebuilding that, and his short game was pretty good during the final round.

Barf.

Did he give her one with a stiff shaft?

A bit lame for sure, but it's just a wedge. It's easier to replace a wedge than a tattoo.

Is it any more lame than signature-style head covers?  Like Ishikawa's?

Possibly yes?

Still, both are less lame than this:

Ummmmm, I would hardly say beating Rory by 1 stroke and Tiger by 2 strokes is beating them in "convincing" fashion. The tournament could have very easily gone Rory or Tiger's if it weren't for a few mistakes/bad breaks.

Funniest part about that is the raised rear (left) leg.

Is it not acrobatic enough to do that pose with the left foot on the ground?  He has to raise it into the air like he's using it as a weathervane?

You're right, it wasn't a huge margin of victory. But it was convincing in the sense that he didn't back into it, or have any lucky bounces like McDowell. He beat Tiger head to head, he played beautifully the entire round, he only hit one bad shot, and he took his medicine for that. He sure convinced me that he is a world class player.

    • Day 12: did the yardstick putting drill for a bit while watching tv.
    • Hole 6, 185 uphill par 3, wind out of the right. I hit a 7 iron to 5-FT left of the pin. The ball landed about 185.5 yards. I drained the putt for a birdie, and most likely a skin.  2nd place is more of a best swing made. 110 yard wedge shot, where I did what I wanted in the back swing and downswing.  I hit a 75% partial wedge 95%. It was flushed, flighted, and beautiful to watch fly over the green. 🤣. I will need to redial in the wedges sometime. Since I am making an effort to make my former 3/4 swing length my full swing length.
    • Is that like "the longest yardstick you can find"? I don't have Airtags but I'd call all of them Airtags too.!
    • Yea, that makes sense.  I remember an Open tournament when they brought out the wind meter one day because balls were being blown around the green. I think it was 45+ sustained, which probably means 60 mph gusts.  I think for the most part, it isn't something that needs to be taken into account.  Also, a golf ball is designed to optimally move through the air. It has better aerodynamics than a sphere.  Thanks for your expertise on this. That makes sense. I know about how wind diminishes the lower in height you go. I didn't know it went near zero at the ground. I deal more with tall structures (utility poles), and we have to take into account height and impacts of wind on the pole. A bit of experience, but wasn't sure how close to zero, non-impactful it was on the golf ball on the ground.
    • Day 2 (7 Aug 25) - More work on tempo with mid-irons, moved to wedges for the balance of the drill.
