That's quite a diversion from their old mellow-looking clubs. As he explains in the video though, that sole is classic Orlimar. I actually still have one of those woods he was talking about.

Yeah, Jesse wanted to try something different but at the same time go back to his most successful design.  It was great to see Jesse again, I've known him my whole life through my Dad being in the retail side of the golf business and being a big supported of Jesse when he first came out with the Tri-metal clubs.

I've followed Jesse, interviewed him a couple of years ago in his shop for about four hours -- a very passionate man about golf and club design.

It looks as if he attempted to maintain the advantages of the soft triangular shape while designing a more conventional looking club that would be acceptable to the market. The hybrid is larger -- which is what the market wants. The Workshop hybrid was a great club - the negative for most was the smaller size in comparison to the competition. The fairways always had a great feel -- if you've hit the Titleist 910 line in fairways and hybrids -- Jesse's clubs have a similar feel - solid with a metallic ting.

It looks as if he has toned down the driver in shape to make it look more conventional.

These look promising.

I think his stock lineup will be more attuned to the average to older player as you can see from the irons and liteweight driver, and his description of the 3.5 wood. The better player may enjoy his driver, fairways and hybrids if they can get a custom shaft.

Looks great, even the white, although I prefer a satin finish.

Jesse is introducing a set of irons, sweet!!

Although I have owned and played Jesse's hybrids and fairways, and found that they weren't the best fit for me, I still brag on those clubs.  His wedges IMHO are the best.  I am currently playing one of his driver heads and love it.  Jesse is probably one of the very few designers who you can actually call on the phone and talk to, as I was able to do when I bought the head and was looking for shaft, length and SW suggestions.  Very knowledgeable, and like Mr. Desmond said, is a very passionate man when it comes to golf and his designs!

Whether or not I have his clubs in my bag at any given time, I will always be a huge Jesse Ortiz fan!  Long live the little guy!

EDIT to add...... back in the hay days of Orlimar, Jesse wasn't the little guy.  He was THE guy!  I love that he has stuck to his belief that he won't design and release a new club design unless he is CERTAIN that is is better than what he already has on the market.
