Greeting to all the sandtrapper's out there!

Wanted to introduce DIVOT.com to community - we finally got around to creating a profile in the forums here. DIVOT.com is a deal-of-the-day site (yes - ANOTHER one!) dedicated to golf only. It's great to be a part of this stellar golf community - we've been big fans for years. Aiming to let those interested know about some of the more aggressive deals we have but not to shove marketing down your throats. If anyone thinks that line is ever crossed let us and know and I promise several unnamed individuals will be punished severely.

Cheers!

Today's golf deal: Adams Idea Tech a4R Iron Set for $199.99

Diablo Edge Tour FW - $59.99

1016605-aae.jpg

Hot Wings

Features:

  • Aggressive VF technology on the face for a super-hot hitting area
  • Higher MOI than any previous Callaway fairway woods
  • Full hosel
  • Less face progression than standard Diablo Edge fairway wood
  • Smaller, more conventional head than standard Diablo Edge fairway wood
  • Provides an additional 10-12 yards over original Diablo fairway wood

So here at DIVOT we go to a local wing joint once a week. I tend to be a Hot and Sweet guy... I don't mind the heat, but I do like some sweet. Makes sense, right?

But today I braved up and got the Diablo level wings. Every once in a while I feel the need to put my mouth (and stomach and other body parts) in check. And by the time I cried my way through the whole dozen wings, I was completely on fire.

Diablo. Trust me, it sets things on fire.

(Ed: Our legal department required that I disclaim that we do not advocate arson or fire crimes of any kind. This club should solely be used for "igniting" your golf game and not for illicit purposes.)

(Ed. note, again: Our legal department required that I disclaim that, in my disclaimer, "ignite" is also not meant as an endorsement of arson or fire crimes of any kind.)

(Ed. note, yet again: The wings place now charges for extra blue cheese. They have received a letter of complaint from me. No answer yet.)

$69.99 -Nike SQ MachSpeed STR8-FIT Driver

Someday we may be able to travel to distant galaxies in the blink of an eye, with teleporters or a series of tubes or trashcan lids. Something.

The physics on it actually aren't that hard. I did the numbers and Steven Hawking was all, "Wow man, why didn't I think of carrying the 1 there? And integrate over x? I was integrating over y!

So I says, "iono, I can't help it that your face is a stupid face."

And then he got all cross and embarrassed, but we played a game of HORSE and I let him win. So we're cool now again.

Right, but even though the math works out on exceeding the speed of light, it'll be a while before I can pull together enough capital to make a prototype. I'm talking to a few investors this afternoon though, and it's looking like that will happen. So we'll see.

The big concern I have though is this Nike SQ MachSpeed. I heard that the government developed it in conjunction with the reverse vampires to be able to launch them out of the gravitational field of our galaxy so they can go back to their home planet, which is lit by two suns, so it's always day there. (Are you following me? They're reverse vampires.)

And I mean, the reverse vampires are gone, so that means they must have got it right.

But then they declassified the project and sold it to Nike, so that they can hide the technology in plain sight. I'm just saying. I know a guy who used to work for DARPA.

And if these things are available to the public, it makes my trashcan lid teleporter much less relevant in the marketplace. Here's to hoping you people keep thinking all it does is hit golf balls far and fast.

$84.99 - Adams Speedline F11 Fairway Wood

1019698-aaw.jpg

The Double Bounce

Features:

  • Includes Headcover
  • Dual Velocity Slots (crown and sole) for increased swing speed and COR
  • Graphite Shaft

At a certain point, it's no longer fun enough anymore simply to jump on the trampoline.

True, it was fun for a while. Bouncing up and down, up and down--you felt both in control and completely out of control at the same time. You felt like a butterfly, flitting from flower to flower in the breeze.

But then you started wondering what other flighted wildlife feel like in flight.

And what about planes, or rockets? Those man-made machines that shame nature's gift of flight—what do they feel like when they fly?

Enter the double bounce.

If the technique isn't taught directly, then it's accidentally "discovered" anew, year after year, like chicks flapping their adorable little wings until they take flight.

The double bounce (if you're unfortunate enough never to have experienced it) is when two people jumping on a trampoline land at or around the same time. One person gets the benefit of the super extended trampoline, and they're shot up in the air so much higher than they could ever get on their own.

And then you're no longer a whimsical butterfly, but a super-fast rocket whizzing towards the moon.

That's a lot like the Velocity Slot technology on the Adams Speedline F11 fairway woods.

Slight indentations on the bottom and top of the clubhead not only reduce drag as the head moves through the air, but they also promote a trampoline effect, so you can "double bounce" your ball (so to speak) off the tee or turf.

So if you're tired of your fairway wood shots looking like a whimsical butterfly with not much speed or direction, pick up one of these Adams fairway woods today.

Your ball wants to know what it feels like to be a rocket.

You should get to know what it feels like to launch one.

Today's Deal: Adams Idea Tech V3 Hybrid

In the 90s, there was a little show called Animaniacs. It was about the adventures of a trio of wacky siblings. They resembled 1920s cartoon characters, sort of like "Steamboat Willy"-era Mickey Mouse. Animaniacs was not made by Disney, however, but by Warner Brothers and it was presented by none other than Steven Spielberg. I have to say that I wasn't a huge fan of the show at the time. I didn't get it. There was one segment that I did enjoy, and that was called "Good Idea, Bad Idea". In it, a skeleton-looking figure tried out two similar-sounding ideas with vastly different effects.

Here's an example: Good Idea: Climbing a mountain. Bad Idea: Climbing a mountain lion. I guess it works better as a sight gag and with a child's perspective. What really sticks in my mind is the intro, which was a monotone Steven Wright-esque voice saying "It's Time for Another 'Good Idea, Bad Idea'". In fact, I'm often reminded of it when forced to come with ideas.

For example: "What should I write for my Divot story? It's time for another 'Good Idea, Bad Idea'. Good Idea: Putting a spin of the Idea hybrid's name. Bad Idea: Rambling yet again about topics no one cares about. Good Idea: Writing about anything, as long as my already past-due story is completed.

You can try it yourself. I'll get you started -- Good Idea: Getting an open box Adams Idea Tech V3 hybrid at this amazing price. Bad Idea: None.

Papa's Got a Brand New Bag

Callaway Hyper-Lite 3.0 Stand Golf Bag

  • Nylon construction
  • IZZO Double Strap Comfort System
  • 8" top with 3-way divider
  • 7 convenient pockets
  • Xtra Traction Flex Foot base
  • 3 lb. total weight

.

In scientific terms, the prefix "hyper" is used when "super" isn't super enough. There are hypersonic speeds and hypernovas in space, for example. This hasn't quite crossed over into non-scientific nomenclature, though. There's no Hyperman. There's no team called the Hypersonics. There's no song called "Champagne Hypernova". There is, however, the hypermarket. If the supermarket eliminates the need to shop at separate places for separate types of food, the hypermarket eliminates the need to shop at separate stores for anything. Wal-Mart and Target are probably the closest things to hypermarkets that America has, but you can't buy cars there or airline tickets or real estate. Wal-Mart did try their hand in 1988 with Hypermart USA, but that failed after two years.

It doesn't make sense. If Americans are lazy and materialistic, why have we not conquered, nay, exceeded the heights of one-stop-shoppery that hypermarkets like El Corte Ingles have? Until that glorious day when a red-blooded American can buy a house at the same place he buys canned cheese and Twinkies, we're being shortchanged.

Fortunately, Callaway has recognized Americans' the need for a link to the hypernatural by producing the Hyper-Lite 3.0 Stand Bag. At least in this respect, we'll never have to settle for super.

    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
