Just curious if anyone else is gaming the xFIXx full time? One of my playing partners gave me one to try during a round and I loved it. I usually play an e6 or V1x so initially I had some funny thoughts about the xFIXx. But damn, they feel good off the putter, I'm able to get a bit more distance, and have not noticed much, if any, inability to spin the ball. With the e6, often I played a shot factoring roll because I almost always had 10-15 feet of roll after the ball mark. With the xFIXx its been ball mark and stop. And the icing on the cake: $18/box at Sports Authority and the ball holds up better than anything else I've played. My wedges don't scuff and even hitting a tree hasn't resulted in a big yellow mark.

I'm not that knowledgeable about the different covers and the difference between two and three piece balls so if someone wouldn't mind chiming in on that I'd appreciate it.

I got a sleeve of them and can't say I care for them a whole lot, especially with wedge shots.  But I've been playing with B330-RX's prior to them, which is the best ball I've found for me.

I saw the xFiXx balls the other day but am ashamed to say I reacted in a ball-ist way. The box looked cheap and nasty so I assumed they were low end and cheap/nasty balls. Might give them a go if they're as good as you say (along with B330-RX once I find somewhere local that sells sleeves for a non-extortionate amount)

I have a friend that plays them.

He doesn't have a lot of speed, yet they produce for him.

It doesn't spin on partial wedges or chip shots -- but if you're looking for a ball that gets distance, is right for the price, and doesn't have green side spin, this is a decent ball.

I gave the xFixx a shot last summer and theyre a decent ball.  I didnt find that they spun all that much for me but they always flew pretty straight (a product of low spin) and they actually feel pretty good off of the putter.

For the price, you really cant complain about them.

IMO, if you struggle with distance or struggle with hitting straight shots, the xFixx would be a good ball for you.  At $20 a dozen, who cares if you lose them?

I played a round with them again today, and they're sort of growing on me.  I wouldn't take them over the B330-RX still, but they're not as horrible as I thought they were the first time I tried them.  My main problem is that I had to get used to giving them some room to run up when pitching/chipping.  They're not going to stop on the green like the B330-RX, but once I forced myself to stop attacking the pin and play for some roll, they were alright, I guess.

Yup, thats the downside of a low-spin ball.  They fly straight but you need to figure some run-out distance into the shot.

    • Day 37, June 10.  Today was primarily WFH, so I had several practice sessions (indoors, off a mat, into the net).  At least one each of U, 9, and 6-iron full swings with the usual priority.   I also tried a few times a putting type stroke with my 4H, as something I should probably learn how to hit (and what it does), but the mechanical shot at home off a mat doesn't tell me much of what it's doing.  That's something I should probably try on a real green, not during a round until I've tried it.
    • Day 10 (10 Jun 26) - Played in the midweek shootout at my home course - on aerated and sanded greens - day of trying to figure tempo to get the best roll on the greens.  Approach game was decently solid as was shots off the tee.
    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
