I have been having some trouble off the tee for about 6 months now, so I went in on the launch monitor to get some numbers and figure some things out.  I am currently gaming the R9 460 with Aldila DVS60 Stiff flex and have lost all confidence in it when it's in my hands.  It just felt dead to me lately, like nothing was going anywhere anymore except high, short and right.

So while I'm there hitting, I notice that my launch angle is extremely high (18 degrees) and spin was huge.  So I grabbed a few other drivers they had laying around to compare to my current R9.  I hit a few of them (G15, G20, I20, R11S, Rockeballz, and the new Adams) and finally picked up the 10.5* RAZR X with a Motore F8 Regular flex and gave it a swing.  My first drive was straight down the middle, 246 yards with an 11* launch angle.  This driver is a bit longer than my R9, so I made a little change, moving the ball a bit further up in my stance and the launch angle went to 13* and 254 yards.  The spin was 2000rpm's lower than my R9 as well.  I kept hitting it and every shot was straight down the middle.  I did try to put a big cut on one, and even it only drifted to the right side of the fairway on the launch monitor.  No matter what I did, that thing went straight and the dispersion was pretty tight for a hacker like me.

So $249 later, I walked out with it.  My first trip to the course with it is tomorrow so I'll report back after that.  The only thing I really don't like about it are the graphics on the top.  I've always been a plain black type of guy with one small alignment mark, but the way I hit this thing compared to my R9, I can put up with the graphics on the top.

Sounds great.  I just shipped this driver to a staff member so he can write a review within the next month.  Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Initial results are decent.  With the 46" shaft, it took some getting used to, I started out hitting everything off the heel.  Once I made a few adjustments, it was good though.  On well struck shots, I would say it's about 10 yards longer than my R9, although the shaft length is probably most of the reason for that.  Combined with the Motore F8 shaft, I will say that if you are a high ball hitter, you will not be happy with this one.  My ballflight was higher than normal all day, which for me wasn't a bad thing in most cases.

I had the same experience with the R9 when I changed to the Diablo Octane last year.   Better distance, better control, better dispersion pattern.

Now I am considering the new Razr Black to replace the Octane.  Not sure if it is worth the change or not.

I had some consistency problems with the 46" shaft in the RAZR.  I cut it down to 45" and hit the same exact baby fade every time now, and even picked up some distance.

Im reading here that the RAZR shaft is actually longer? I always thought that Callaway made shorter drivers than Callaway (I've been out of the driver game for about 2 years).  Is it just the RAZR X driver that has the longer shaft now? cause when I bought my FT IZ it was a toss up between that and a Taylormade superfast burner.  Went with the IZ because the shaft was a good 1+ inch shorter.

The concern I have with the new RAZR Black is the 1 degree open for the 8.5 and 9.5 drivers.   Where my 9.5 Octane is Square.

Also wondering the difference between the Octane shaft (Project X) and the Black shaft (Fujikura Motore F8) but the shafts have same weight, same torque, and same kick point....

I guess the best way to see is go hit some and see how it goes for me and my game...

I see you have a Srixon driver in your sig now.  Did you decide the Razr was not a good fit for you?  My Diablo Edge developed a crack, and Callaway is replacing it with a new Razr X Black, so I'm curious as to what your thoughts are with this driver if you aren't playing it anymore.

I still own it, but am not currently playing it because of some issues with my swing.  The face is pretty shallow, and I was having a lot of problems hitting the ball low or high on the face.  I switched to the Srixon for a while because it has a deeper face, which helps mask this swing fault that has developed lately.
