I imagine they would help more than hurt compared to the balls you are using. I haven't been playing very long and I have a bunch of old cheap recycled balls from wal mart and some refurbished prov1x's, i can tell the difference, with the prov1x's the ball usually sticks on the green if it lands there instead of rolling off, and they also tend to fly a little straighter and generally feel better. Give it a try why not?

They won't make a whole lot of difference. Sure, they might spin a little bit more, but at your level, it doesn't matter.

Being a high capper they'd probably hurt you off the tee but try them sometime around the greens -including putting and you will soon discover what all the buzz is about them.....I love them but I also sometimes play with guys who change balls so I can hit a two piece distance ball off the tee and change out to my V1X when the short game comes to pass....LOL

When I do play them tee to green I feel that I lose about 10 yards off the tee....no biggie for a short hitter who needs a good approach shot to get to me shortgame, anyways....overall my best scores (81 -four times ) were when playing the Pro V1 X.   They putt so pure!

In contrast I can not play the V1 worth a damn...waaaay too much spin for this  ol' duffer!

I've only played for about 6 months and have yet to break 100. My personal best is a 109 at Eaglewood Resort in Itasca IL off the back tees.

Anyways, I bought a bag of 50 refurbished pro-v1-x at the store a month ago and have been using them since. Little did I know they wouldn't really affect my game since I'm still barely learning the swing. However, I really like them during my short game but find that they definitely pick up my spin much more when I tee off. I usually slice the ball, and if not I put a nice fade on it (unintentionally of course). I'm still working on my driving swing, therefore the pro-v1-x's have been costing me more strokes off the tee.

I plan on meeting with a golf coach when money allows to work on the slice, but definitely have grown to like the prov1's.

Go ahead and use them.  I shoot about the same as you and I have a pretty inconsistent swing so I can't really tell the difference between golf balls.  If it went farther it might just be because I hit it better . .if it slices it's probably just because I sliced it, etc, etc.  It wouldn't be worth it for me to buy Pro V1's but I'll use them if I find them.

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
