i just started playing last season and got fitted for my irons. but this winter i took lessons that changed my swing, should i get refitted for the lie of my irons or would they be the same

Would only recommend getting refitted if you felt you were making good swings and the ball was starting too far to the right or left

Great question. This is why I preach getting a static fitting -- fitting based on body and not swing -- for anyone who is hoping to make improvements to their swing.

It makes no sense to me for a beginner to hit off a lie board and then get lessons to learn the correct setup, distance from ball, etc.

Get fitted for your body and the swing you want to have.

alright thanks also i have another question, i have the tour edge bazooka ht performance enhancing clubs and they are designed to help hit the ball higher and not as far but i hit them high and far, 7i 175, 8i 165, 9i 155, pw 140, aw 125, and my uncles tell me it's because i swing fast, should i buy blade irons? whats the difference. if performance enhancing clubs are weighted at the bottom and easier to hit why doesnt everybody use them

You are getting huge distance for a beginner. Your clubs may be designed to get the ball up easier but they are not designed to go "not as far." Talk with your teaching pro about your clubs. He or she should be able top tell you what you need. As a 20 handicap, you are not ready for blades.

You may get to the point where you hit the sweet spot nearly every swing and direction is not an issue -- distance consistency is the issue. At that point, many look for more consistent distance control which often comes with less forgiveness on miss-hits. You may also get to the point where you want to bring your trajectory up and down and work the ball right and left. That is what blades (or "players" irons) offer better golfers.

As for distance, I got to lowest handicap ever by taking at least 10% off the distance on all my irons. I used to hit a hard PW 135 - 140 yards. Now I would use an 8-iron.

I can draw and fade my driver and woods I have such a high handicap because the one thing I didn't learn with my lessons was chipping and they kill my game

I've been wondering the same thing.  I bought new irons last january from golf galaxy and the fitting amounted to "you swing hard, so you need stiff shafts" and hitting a board to determine the lie angle.  Reading on here about different shafts and hour long fitting sessions makes me feel like I'm playing with clubs off the rack that are adding 10 strokes to my score.  Flighted shafts?  Kickpoints?  Huh?  Plus since buying these I've gone with the S&T; via evolver so my swing is different.  So I keep thinking that I should get refitted but I don't have a particular problem like Mike mentioned.

I just got fit today and they measured from my wrist to the floor and put that Mizuno shaft optimizer on it. I told the fitter that I planned on getting better but they never had me hit off a lie board. Now I am wondering if I should go get fit somewhere else.

Refitted? Depends on what you mean by getting better.

The measurements determine the correct lie and length for your body -- with a proper and conventional swing and setup. If you plan to swing conventionally, this is my recommendation to get fitted for the swing you aspire to have.

The shaft optimizer takes into account tempo and swing speed. If you plan to change your fundamentals, these may change. Swing speed does not change much unless you do something dramatically different in your technique. Mizuno's shaft optimizer is good place to start IMHO.

If you get fitted now, you either fit your body and the swing you want, fit your current swing, or some hybrid of the two. I think too many players fit a swing they don't like. Fit your body if you are planning on working on your swing.
