So I have been working hard since last august to rebuild my swing.  It has gotten alot better than it use to be and through the ball is way better than it use to be.  Weird issue is though my misses are way worst than they use to be.  I'm sure it's alot mental and not trusting it because I find myself all the time mental screwing myself and quiting on the shots.  My handicap has went up a couple strokes since last year also and I haven't had an under par round since working on my swing.  Anyone else went through this?  Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?

I have gone through about 6 different cycles that you are describing. Golf is funny like that, when I have put so much effort into practice I almost feel that I have the right to play better, but often don't.

The thing is you should not measure your "swing" improvement to your golf score. I would suggest tracking GIR or how many times you hit your driver into a trouble spot. Your actual handicap has so many factors, putting, short game, which maybe since you have been neglecting your swing haven't been as sharp. Once your feel you got your swing where you want it to be, (or closer anyways, because I am beginning to wonder if it will ever be "there", for me at least) then you can start honing in on the short game and scoring in general.

Lastly, if you are working on the swing then likely that means a significant amount of time on the range, that means perfect lies and no consequences when you hit it bad. That just means you need to play more.

I'm currently going through a lot of changes not only in my swing but in my physical fitness. I have lost 55 pounds since NewYears(running 4 days a week), and I have been working on my swing with Evolvr. With the weight loss I knew my swing would change this year and I figured it was a great time to do some work on it. My scores have flucuated a bit so far but when I've been on it's been really good with a couple rounds under par, a few rounds of Even to +1, but a couple blowup rounds of 78,79. So it is a work in progress, but I will say that I have a lot of confidence in the changes I'm making and I think it's important to believe that what your working on is going to make you a better player. Either way, I'm taking it slow and giving myself the entire season to work through the changes to get my game on track.

Wish my blow ups where 78 I shot a 84 the other day....  I think my biggest issue is when I get out on the course I start hitting it bad and can't trust or figure out how to fix it.  I could usually grind something out but, I get so disgusted some days I don't want to put in the effort.  I think it is alot mental as well as physical when making swing changes.  I find myself when I hit a miss really over analyzing the shot and play golf swing instead of just golf.

    • Day 49 - 2024-11-18 Light day of HackMotion work in the basement with my putting. Suffice to say my feels very closely align with what is measured.
    • Day 200 (18 Nov 24) - Broke out the MacGregor blades to do some “vintage” club pitches and chips.  Focus was on alignment and where I am looking in relation to the ball…have been working on finding a focal point about 3-6 inches ahead of the ball (toward the target) and not staring at the ball.  Getting very predictable strikes.  Overall it was a fun drill session and will serve as a warmup to tomorrow’s planned front 9 walk with these irons and persimmon woods and of course a “new” putter - a Acushnet Bullseye…

    • I believe that losing a tour card is too extreme but definitely agree that more needs to be done to prevent slow play.
    • Its way past time both tours  have  major  penalties for  slow  play. I  hate  it when they say" This group is  on the  clock". Big damn deal. Issue  penalties. Maybe Hull is a  bit too harsh but  its time a slew  of  2 stroke  penalties start  being  issued.     Charley Hull is fed up with slow play on the LPGA, so she offered a ‘ruthless’ solution “I’m quite ruthless, but I said, ‘Listen, if you get three bad timings, every time it’s a tee shot penalty; if you have three of them, you lose your Tour card instantly.’ I’m sure that would hurry a lot of people up, and they won’t want to lose their Tour card. That would kill the slow play, but they would never do that.” Who knows if that will work. But if it does not, maybe the PGA Tour should adopt Hull’s idea. The LPGA should, too, or at least assess penalty strokes for slow play. Five-hour rounds for a final group on Sunday is unacceptable and a quick way to lose interest and engagement from fans.
