All last fall and through the winter I hit my driver great with just a little draw. Over the last couple of months it's gotten very erratic. It first started with my little draw turning into a hook, went to the range to get that straighten out and it worked for a week or two. And this trend has continued, a swing thought works for a week or two and I think I start getting exaggerated with the move and things go south again. My ball flight has gone from a slight draw, to straight, then straight but short, then to a fade and now a slice. Each time it's "changed" I would fight it on Saturday, figure it out that afternoon and then play good on Sunday but when the next weekend came it changes again. I've got a lesson this morning to see if I can get back to where I was.

Any tips to keep from falling into this trap again? I'm hoping my coach with have something I can work on to keep everything consistent.

Sorry if none of this makes any sense, but it's very frustrating, hope I've explained it well enough.

Would have to see your swing on video.

Be sure you understand the ballflight laws to be able to read you ball flight.  There are many threads here on that subject that are very helpful.

good luck.

Just posted this in another thread.  I would also suggest having the handle forward at address as well as the hips.  Good video to check out on how to do that.  Don't worry about the "S&T;" part of it, other instructors are going to this kind of set-up to help hit high draws with the driver.

How long is your backswing?  If you have a long backswing, try shortening it up a little bit...also make sure your front foot stays completely on the ground during the backswing.

Had my lesson and I've moved the ball about an inch up in my stance to where it's actually off my left heal now, I guess the ball position had crept back some. He also had me raise my hands just a bit, he thought my hands were too low and that was causing my to get stuck and not get through the ball.

I went a played 18 yesterday and while warming up I was pulling the ball left and I remembered I had changed the setting on my Razrfit driver to closed to help fight the slice. Changed it back to square and hit the ball straight. Mike, I did use your tip on the hips and hand along with what my coach said and really hit the ball good. Hit a couple of draws but for the most part the ball flight was straight and had good distance. Shot my low round of the year, 76, and actually had my first under par 9. Shot 41 (+5) on the front and 35 (-1) on the back.

Thanks, I was very pleased with the back 9. Eight pars and 1 birdie, only missed 1 green and it was a par 5 and I was basically on the collar and 2 putted for par.

Guess it wasn't a fluke, shot 75 (+3) at my home course this morning. Drove the ball well and kept the ball in front of me all day for a no stress round. The one thing I need to work on now is when I've got a good round going, not to start thinking about the final outcome with 3-4 holes remaining. When I do, I start getting nervous, not wanting to blow it.
