So I have been looking through a bunch of posts on different golf forums about a straight driver. A lot of people have said just change your swing. I had a 1.5 hour session with a instructor just about driving. I could see he was frustrated because almost nothing was changing in the ball flight. So finally the last thing he said before I left, was to look for a straighter driver. I was thinking about going with a Draw biased, but I heard that Square heads were straight and forgiving. So I don't know. Any suggestions will be helpful. I'm 14 with no job until the summer, so i'm not willing to break the bank. I narrowed my choices down to these used drivers...

You're a 6 index and can't seem to hit your driver straight?  The only thing I find harder to believe than a driving fixing your accuracy is that your current instructor can't help.

Find a new instructor, or post a video of your swing in the 'member swings' forum.  Lots of good players on here.

Um find a different teacher if you are a 6 handicap which clearly means you are a talented player he should of been able to fix your slice or at least tone it down to a fade. Did this teacher look at your grip? because I would be willing to bet that it is too weak leading to compounding effects throughout the swing.

I'll go set up my golf net and get a video up on youtube as soon as I can.

Just found your more recent swing on this site.  Not bad, but certainly a few elements that will affect consistency.  I'll comment on that thread, but a true DTL (down the line) video would help.

Go get fitted if you are even thinking of a new driver. Looks like you are standing on the wrong side of the ball. LOL. Outside in swing looks like the problem to me, but wait and see what others say.

From what I can see in the video your clubface appears to be dead shut at the top and then you come over the top and actually squaring the clubface, however the clubface is open in relation to your swing plane resulting in the pull slice I'm assuming you hit.

It definitely appears as if you are coming over the top. Two things stand out to me in the videos...one, you look like you 'break' your wrists before you do anything else in your take away as opposed to starting the turn with your shoulders. Two, the reason you may be doing this is because you may be just a bit to far away from the ball at address. Stand a little more upright and a tad bit closer to the ball.

Overall, not a bad swing just a tweak here and there and you'll be ok...but you are definitely coming outside in.

That is not the swing of a 6 handicapper, so I'm glad to see you removed the index from your profile.

There is no such thing as a driver that goes straight.

A golf club driver, that is.

The player hits it straight, not the club.

You can not seriously expect equipment to counteract the physics of a golf swing and its relationship to a golf ball.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Make a my swing post in the member swings forum if you want advice on your swing.

Have you ever measured your swing speed? Honestly , how far do you hit your driver? What is the current staff flex you use in your driver?

Although Shorty is right that there is no driver that goes straight, there are certainly drivers that do not. From experience I can tell you that for me the difference between swinging a stiff flex club and a regular flex club is the difference between being in the trees and not being in the trees. I have a feeling it is more than just the club that is causing your fade/slice though, but the club might contribute.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I removed the index because I haven't played a full 18 hole round yet this year. And that 6 was based on last years stats. I'm in a huge Minnesota winter hole right now, and digging out isn't going well. So to close my face should I move the ball back in my stance, or close it manually by moving the shaft forward in my stance?

Get a Callaway FT-iZ. I bought one last month, never hit such a straight driver. The FT-i you linked in your first post sounds like a trash can lid banging, but is in fact very straight. Shorter than the FT-iZ though by quite a margin. Found mine new from greatergolfsales (or similar) on Ebay for $160 with a Diamanna blue shaft. Incredible driver for folks looking to find more fairways.
