Hi TST Community,  I wanted to say congrats to one of our sponsors 2nd Swing .  May 16th marks The 1 year anniversary of the Version 2 Launch of the new 2nd Swing golf website . 2nd Swing has been a great sponsor of ours and it was awesome to have them involved for our 2012 Supporter Drive , where Supporters received a 10% off coupon code from 2nd Swing to be used for used club purchases.

2nd Swing has asked us at The Sand Trap to review the site and give them feedback.  Since this community is the target audience, we wanted to see what you guys thought of the 2nd Swing site .

A few things to consider for your responses:

- Have you bought equipment from 2nd Swing?

- Have you traded clubs into 2nd Swing?

- When it's time for a new club, would you visit 2nd Swing?

- Did you find what you wanted?

- Was it easy to find what you wanted?

- Would you tell a friend about this site?

- Were there any pleasant surprised?  Any negative surprises?

I'm fortunate to live just around the corner from 2nd Swing in Minneapolis. I don't have much experience shopping from their website, but I do visit the B&M; store often.

- Have you bought equipment from 2nd Swing?

Yes, 13 clubs in my bag are from 2nd Swing (and the bag itself)

- Have you traded clubs into 2nd Swing?

Yes, very smooth transaction. No baloney.

- When it's time for a new club, would you visit 2nd Swing?

Absolutely.

- Did you find what you wanted?

- Was it easy to find what you wanted?

Usually -- would probably be easier to search online for my unusual specs (+1", 2-3 degrees upright) and then go demo what I find

- Would you tell a friend about this site?

Yes

- Were there any pleasant surprised?  Any negative surprises?

I have only good things to say about the shop. The website makes it extremely easy to drill down and find what you are looking for and the newly remodeled Mpls shop is awesome. Too many goodies for my wallet!

Thanks so much for the feedback bjornarneson!  Happy to hear that you've been able to find what you need with us.  Come in and hit anytime.

And, yes, checking out our selection online before coming in and demoing is a superb idea!

I am am happy to say that Yes I have bought both a Driver and Putter from 2S! It was very easy to find what I was looking for and I could not argue with the price or quality of the product I received!

I will definitely be buying a new fairway wood and set of irons in the future from you guys!

I have and would recommend 2ndSwing.com to anyone who loves golf and loves saving money equally!

Honestly, I checked the site out yesterday ... I thought prices were high compared to going rate on eBay.     I know it's difficult if not impossible for a retailer to compete against eBay, but I'm a bottom feeder by nature, and the art of the deal is half the fun of getting used gear.    Doubt I'd buy anything from them unless I was really looking for something specific.

I had a first look at the site today.

Very disappointing.

I have been looking for a set of Ping Eye 2 BeCu irons and found their prices higher than anywhere. But the most disgusting pricing tactic I saw employed was separating the sand and lob wedges out of full iron sets and selling the individual irons for up to $200! Really?, $200 for an almost 30 year old wedge?

I ordered a used Cleveland  yesterday.

The price was about the same as what a clean model goes for on e-bay. (Beaters go for much less and it's not an easy club to find clean. So it appears overpriced but is not. )

Their relationship with the SandTrap played an important role in using them.

My verdict depends on what they call "very good condition".

Dear dmnoland,

Although the type of feedback we were hoping for had more to do with how our site is operating than how competitive our prices are (we know our prices are extremely competitive in our market), I will be happy to do some looking around for you.

Here is an ebay listing for Ping eye 2 BeCu iron set, 3-SW at $449.99 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ping-Eye-2-Becu-Beryllium-Copper-3-SW-Iron-Set-Red-Dot-Stiff-Steel-2864-/180854665071?pt=Golf_Clubs&hash;=item2a1bc72f6f#ht_4131wt_1164

Here is a private ebay listing for the same irons, all that is listed is "Full Set", so who would know what they're getting? but it is $450 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ping-Eye-2-Beryllium-Copper-Iron-set-Golf-Club-/180875926320?pt=Golf_Clubs&hash;=item2a1d0b9b30#ht_500wt_1413

Here is an ebay listing for same irons, listed by Quickship Golf, 3-PW, at $349.99 http://www.ebay.com/itm/PING-EYE-2-BERYLLIUM-COPPER-BLACK-DOT-3-PW-IRON-SET-STIFF-STEEL-USED-RH-IRONS-/220918604623?pt=Golf_Clubs&hash;=item336fc6634f#ht_677wt_1164

Here is 2nd Swing.com's listing for the same irons, 3-PW, at $399.99 http://www.2ndswing.com/p-120378-ping-eye-2-beryllium-copper-iron-set-3-pw-steel-regular-right-green-dot.aspx

As you can see, dmnoland, our pricing for Ping Eye 2 BeCu iron sets is extremely competitive with the market.  The only example I have here that beats our pricing is the ebay listing from Quickship Golf, but I would dare say that, after inspecting the high-rez photos, 2nd Swing.com's listing is in better condition by about $50.

Now, as for the sales tactic that you mentioned, I am not aware of any single iron/wedge taken out of a set that is priced that high without being a special rarity, tour issue, or a PGA player's club.  Staying with the Eye 2 BeCu's, however, I did some looking around and found that our single iron prices are competitive with the market:

As you will see, in this ebay list page, the Eye 2 BeCu single irons range from $30 to $60, depending on which club it is: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=beryllium+copper+ping+eye+2+single+iron&_sacat=See-All-Categories

Our listing price for a Ping Eye 2 BeCu single 3 iron is $29.99: http://www.2ndswing.com/p-18987-ping-eye-2-beryllium-copper-single-iron-3-iron-steel-stiff-right-red-dot.aspx

dmnoland, I hope you find the right beryllium copper Eye 2 set for you!  I actually just bought a set of the Ping ISI beryllium copper irons from 2nd Swing.com , and the only problem I had with the pricing was that copper ISI irons tend to be about 33% more expensive than the steel ones, due to rarity (they don't make BeCu irons sets anymore, but you already knew that).  But that price increase goes across the entire market, not just through 2nd Swing.

Thanks for your reply dmnoland!  Appreciate the Feedback!  Have a great golf season and good luck finding those copper Eye 2's.  If you buy them from us, I guarantee the condition will be exactly what you pay for!

Thanks so much Tin Man, I am confident that "very good condition", in the language of our club listers and buyers, means no cosmetic damage, just slight wear.

Also, thanks for the heads up on the cleveland wedges, and thanks for checking out my Ping BeCu Irons article !

- Have you bought equipment from 2nd Swing?  Yes.  A Scotty Cameron Tei3 Newport 2.  Arrived in condition identical to picture, no surprises.  Was a good price ($140) versus ending bids of up to $200-$400 on ebay.

- Have you traded clubs into 2nd Swing?  No.

- When it's time for a new club, would you visit 2nd Swing?  Yes.

- Did you find what you wanted?  Yes, very easy to search/drill down.  Good selection and variety.

- Was it easy to find what you wanted?  Yes.

- Would you tell a friend about this site?  Yes.

- Were there any pleasant surprised?  Any negative surprises?  No.

To put to rest the "ebay" prices thing, you get lucky on ebay or you can get involved in a bid-war.  I lost a bid war on a Tei3 Newport 2 on ebay that ended at $240.  I bough one in identical/better shape from 2nd swing, no bidding stress, for $140.  I don't have time to wait 2 years to win the perfect auction at the lowest price.

I couldn't find one in 2 months on Craigslist below $300 local to me.

Regarding the lob/gap wedges, I have never ever bought a set that included them.  I've always bought ones after the fact.  And often, those are so saught after it balloons the price/demand.

Swing away 2nd Swing, I like it.

I bought a Nickent Hybrid through an auction on eBay that's scheduled for delivery today.  Seamless transaction, quick shipping, and I got it for a steal (if it comes as advertised).  Seems like a good outfit to me.

Club came with new grip, in three days, and in great condition. I hit it pretty well at the range today, too!

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
