When you are swinging well what kind of shot after you hit it do you think "wow that shot was amazing."

For me it is when the wind is howling in my face and I tee up on this 320 yard par 4 and I intentionally hit a low heel cut driver.  I just love the look of this shot and it ads about 20 yards onto my drive into the wind to leave me with a comfortable 50 yards to the hole.

Sorry I realized I buggered that up.  When you hit a shot to the lower heel edge of the sweet spot on your driver.  It makes a nice low fade ball flight.

Either a long iron off the tee or driver off the deck. Or a long fairway wood out of the rough where I can hit as hard as I can. If I have an excuse to juice it, I love to do so. I can practice my short game all the time but obviously not my full shots much unless I go to the course or range.

Mega-flop shot over a bunker to gimme range. Nothing jazzes me more than a well-executed get-out-of-jail shot.

An extremely difficult chip shot that you are only semi confident is gona go on the green. Then you line it up and it executes perfect and runs to inches from the hole. If it goes in, there is normally some Tiger style celebrations.

the pured 3i that looks for all the world is either dead in the bunker or skipped over the back of the green,...only for you to get there and realise you carried the bunker and held the green with a nice putt for birdie

The high draw into a tucked pin against a "cut" wind....or carving a fairway wood around a dog leg on a par 5 that ends up pin high for a 12 ft eagle putt.

Driver with straight down the middle of the fairway (hey last year i was duck hooking the driver and was afraid to look at it. Now im hitting it straight or baby draws or fades)

then

7 iron within 15-20 feet of the pin on the green.

It doesn't take much to please me.

I love flop shots and they make it more interesting when I need to save par. I had one the other day where I got it way up there and it landed about 3 feet from the hole. Par 4 and I ended up with a 5 because the flop shot was number 4. I will take bogey on the first hole all day.

I feel the exact same way. I love flop shots

Ditto.  There is no better feeling in golf (besides when you make one of those impossible putts) than a flop shot over a hazard/bunker that lands in striking distance of a 1 putt.

I love two shots... both quite simple, but I love them.  The well struck Drive that goes 250+ right down the middle with a baby draw.  And the hybrid that does the same thing (but not a s far) and lands so softly that it holds the green.

Nice.  A 13 handicap that can bust an intentionally heeled shot 270 into a howling wind.  As far as 50 yards, that's my "oh crap" distance.  As in oh crap I should have laid back more or really gone for it.

My favorite shot is a well executed fade off the tee.

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
