What Loft Wedge For Beginner?

Since I don't have a wedge in my bag besides a pitching wedge, I want to add this club to my bag. What loft wedge is appropriate for a beginner? Any specific model in mind as well? Since I'm a broke college student, I'm looking for the most bang for the buck.

I appreciate your help!

Get something like the adams watson 3 piece wedge set. 100 bucks gets you a 52,56,and 60 . If that is too much money just pick up a cheap 56 degree sw and go with it. In 6months when you know how to hit the wedge you can figure out what type of set up you want

1. Go to a big box shop like Golfsmith. Look for good condition used. Any brand is fine. Nice "more like new" face is best.

2. 54* if you plan to have only one (good idea). 56* if you can't find a nice used 54*.

3. Change your handicap in your profile to "?" from 10 since you are a beginner and do not have a handicap. Some who have earned their 10 are sensitive.

Ya id go with whatever you can afford. I got hooked up with 52 56 and 60 and dont know what i would do with out a single one of them.

We would have to know your pitching wedge loft, but if you need one wedge it is generally a 56 degree sand wedge - as a newbie, you do not need a 60 degree yet (and may never.) But you will definitely find use for a gap wedge (a wedge lofted between your sand and pitching wedges)

Add a 56* sand wedge to your PW, and you will have enough to work on as a beginner.

I would go with the CG14 wedge http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3980625

It is last year's model, but I just bought one on sale not too long ago and it has a great feel. Cleveland is known for their wedges, and this one is great. It has good distance and amazing spin. I would recommend a 56* because I believe that loft is the most versitile. You get get out of sand easy, open the face if you need it a little higher, etc. As you go along though, you may want a few more wedges in your bag. There's also never any shame in buying used...my uncle who is a scratch golfer never buys new clubs and thinks it is a waste and he is kind of right.

The best thing that ever happened to my chipping and pitching was sticking with the PW.  A good 56 degree is nice out of the sand or when you need to get up and over with only a little green to work with. At my stage of the game, I try to keep the loft as low as humanly possible to avoid disaster.

      Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.

      Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
