Hi. I'm male and right now I'm using a 3 or 4 years old  LH speedline driver that has a draw.  I'm left handed and I slice a lot, so using a club with a draw helped lessen my slice by a lot.  I don't play that often, about 15 times per year if I'm lucky.

Compare to my friends which are like 5 inch and more taller than me, I know that my speed swing is slower than them.

There is a golf store that just opened, so I could go there to calculate golf swing speed if you guys need it.

With my driver right now, if I hit it perfectly, I might get max 225 yards.  I hit my 3 wood close to  200 yards so I'm thinking I should get more yards from my driver right?

I'm looking for a new driver that could help me drive the ball farther without me practicing like crazy.

Also looking for some info about type and height of shaft for a small guy that is looking for more distance on the drive.

Thanks for the help and tips!

Well if you go to a golf shop and get fitted for the right driver and shaft you will gain maybe 30 yards with no changes to your swing.  And that is on the high side.  I would also take a few lessons to correct the slicing because that takes a ton of yards off a drive.  Your height at 5'5" doesn't have much to do with how far you can drive the ball but your swing speed does.  Go to a golf shop and have them fit your swing with the correct shaft.  The shaft means everything when it comes to trajectory, ball spin and distance.  The pro will be able to get you a custom shaft for your swing and height.  But again this will only get you so far.  If you really want to improve your driving distance and accuracy you will have to work on your swing.

30 yards from a driver fitting for someone likely swinging below 90 mph?!  Come on now.

If you're fighting a slice, you're absolutely swinging inefficiently.  I'd take a lesson for a PGA certified pro and work getting the club on proper plane coming into the ball.  You'll pick up yards and confidence, while watching your index fall.

One of my playing partners is 5'5'' and he hits the ball a solid 270 off the tee... great swing an impact position.

Clubhead speed helps with driving distance. At the driving range, I see 5-foot-5 teenagers hit their driver 260 yards simply because they move so quickly through the ball.

A fitting will tell you what your swingspeed is for, say, driver and 5 iron, and you can use this to determine what driver and shaft you need. Contributing causes of your slice could be swing flaw, too stiff a shaft, too little shaft torque, or maybe too thick a grip. The fitting will give you several hard data points to help determine the cause of your slice.

There's a guy I watch who's probably Five-two, 115 lbs.  His driver appears to be as long as he is. With a smooth slow looking swing he fly's those range rocks a far as anyone else.

Watching him I wonder what Bruce Lee's game would look like.

Height is a slight advantage. Having a lot of FT muscles is a big one. Hitting the ball solidly with the right launch conditions is probably the biggest one. If you look at some of the optimal charts, you can get 276 of total yardage with a 95mph swing. Granted I have no idea what type of assumptions they made about the fairway to get 50 yards of roll but I also know I on a simulator I have never hit the ball 5 degrees up with a 13 degree launch angle and sub 2k spin.

    • I caught a video on this driver; the face tech seems crazy. Looking at the heat map for ball speed, hitting it basically anywhere on the face only loses a few percent ball speed. The surprising and counter intuitive part to me was that for flat faced clubs, ball speed loss is directly proportional to distance loss. For clubs with bulge and roll this is apparently not true. The surprising part of that story being that the max distance potential looks to be a tiny pee sized area for this driver, and I feel in general for drivers. The counter intuitive part being (the myth?) that blade irons have a pee sized sweet spot and missing that tiny spot causes dramatic losses. And that modern drivers, maybe 2017 on, have massive sweet spots and are ultra forgiving. Where in reality, if this heat map data is valid and reliable, it might be a bit of the opposite. This insane tech driver appears to have a pea sized "sweet spot" while Mizuno Pro 241 irons are 28% more forgiving compared to the average of all clubs measured. Not compared to other players irons, compared to all clubs from all categories, players to SGI! The Pro 241 being essentially just a solid chunk of metal with no "tech" at all. Which for me devolves into a whole mess of what is forgiveness really? And in measurable and quantifiable results how many yards, or feet, does that translate into?
