Just can't do it anymore. The obsession has become unhealthy. I can't concentrate at work....I can't concentrate anywhere. The more I obesess, the worse I play. It's just not fun any more.

Bye Golf, I will always love you.

I'm sorry you feel that way. Maybe just play with friends who don't care how well you play, just as long as you get out and have a good time.

Golf is one of those sports that seem to take a lifetime to master mentally and physically.

If you are over thinking or obsessing about the sport and it is taking away from your enjoyment, then take a break.

But to say you are giving up on the sport all together due to your mental interference I would have to question your dedication to the sport to begin with.

Good Luck and Hope you change your mind.

I played Volleyball for the USAF (Untied States Air Force) and I was a category 3 cyclist with the USCF (United States Cycling Federation) and golf is the hardest sport I have ever played. So I feel your pain but if you are looking for instant gratification then golf is not for you. I have finally figured out that I play best when I can control my expectations and let it come to me. Like Bob Rotella says "Golf is not a game of Perfect". It is like life and it is how you manage your misses that count because sure enough there will be misses. Well good luck with your decision but read Bob Rotella's book http://www.amazon.com/Golf-Game-Perf...1053627&sr;=1-3 before you totally give it up as it could put a different perspective on the game for you.

I sometimes think about quitting, but then I get back on the course, and I shoot a good round (good for me anyway) and then I go back to loving it.

Down right strange that golf could interfere and disappoint someone's life so much so they want to quit. Alot of guys would kill to be a 15 handicap.. if you're having troubles getting to the next level and feel like you're playing too much and not getting anything out of it. Invest in game improvement irons for your ball striking and take some lessons.

And it sounds to me like you're trying too hard. Stop putting a number in your head and saying you have to shoot that or you'll be disappointed.. go out and let it happen. I used to be the same way, and I went through an inconsistent plateau in my game. Now I just go out with confidence in myself that i will play well and have fun doing it.

To suggest you obsess about golf so much that its ruining your life seems like a joke to me.. but if you're serious take a break.. I can almost gaurantee you wont quit the game, unless you have a serious injury.
