I had a statement in my signature that I use GolfShot to record my rounds, and that has been removed from my signature without my knowledge. I put it there simply because I get a PM or reply in the "What'd You Shoot?" thread asking what I use nearly every time I post my scorecard.

Driver: TaylorMade SuperFast 2.0 -- 10.5* Woods: TaylorMade SuperFast 2.0 -- 3w 15*, 5w 18* Hybrid: TaylorMade Burner SuperFast 2.0 Rescue -- 4h 21* Irons: TaylorMade Burner Plus -- 5-AW Wedges: TaylorMade RAC -- 56.12, 60.07 Putter: TaylorMade Spider Ghost -- 35" Ball: It's complicated.

It violates a policy of the site by linking to a commercial (non-personal) site.

Simple as that.

P.S. Replies aren't allowed in the "What'd You Shoot Today?" thread. I delete them when I see them.

Links to TaylorMade, Callaway, or even Facebook for that matter are not allowed? I see links to commercial sites all the time here. Is it simply because it was in a signature and you see that as advertising? I realize replies aren't allowed in that thread, but as you have noticed, it doesn't stop people from seeking to get an answer. In fact, the statement I had in my signature would make it unnecessary for someone to reply and therefore save you the trouble in deleting their reply.

Links to commercial sites are not permitted in your signature. http://thesandtrap.com/a/faq#user_what_in_sig

I haven't seen links to TaylorMade, Callaway, etc. in people's signatures. They wouldn't really be allowed either, no. The images are fine (they're in the smileys list).

If you want to inform people of the software, put a quick link in the body of your posts - not in your signature.

OK that makes sense. I thought you were referring to the entire site, not just signatures. Thanks for the clarification.

Right, just signatures, because they exist on EVERY post, whether the little thing in the signature is on topic or not.

Thanks for the understanding.

Except for the commercial links in your signature line?

Darn right. And those from Supporters and Advertisers.

Yeah, cuz it's exactly like that. Give me a break.

Tell ya what: when you invest a few thousand dollars and tens of hours a week for a seven years in a row, you can have commercial links in your signature too. Deal?

Yes it's exactly like that.  Come on guys.  The big part of the reason this site is successful is because of the FREE, correct and useful information Erik has provided throughout the years.
