i have r7 driver but ive had it for awhile now im going to try and get a new one soon. i was originally thinking about the ft-5 but i hit it and didnt really like it that much. right now im debating between the taylor made burner and one of the cobra speed drivers but i dont live close to a big golf retailer or a demo day so i cant try one of them out. which do you think would be better for distance and accuracy?

If I were you I would check out the Burner. I had one earlier in the year but couldn't get consistently in the fairway with it. However, when I hit it well if was very long.

Id say the burner is definatly better for distance and accuracy, the Speeds are more for higher ball flight and accuracy.

I have always liked the traditional shape and the way the Titleist drivers set up, which is the only brand I have ever used(since I could choose)

The new shape of straight is the square drivers.. IE. Nike Sumo2 and the Callaway FT-i
Get fitted for a driver. That is the only way to hit it best with the swing you have now. You want the correct shaft and Loft to produce the best shot.

I see you cant go to a demo day or something like that so figure out what you dont like about the R7 and go from there.. go luck

Definately at least try the Callaway Big Bertha. I have a terrible slice with most of my clubs, but with my Driver, it has a bit of a fade to it. It's awesome.

Yeah, the Speed drivers are really good. Until I got one, I was struggling with sprayed tee shots that barely notched 200 yards. Then I bumped it out there 230, with a long draw, when I got one of these. It has a sickeningly annoying sound when you mishit, but it's much more satisfying when you nail it on the screws.

I love my TM burner, the sound you make when you crush it is awesome it sounds like its litterally destroying the ball!

I thought it was decent when I demo'd it at a Golf Galaxy. I hit a bunch of balls in the little machine they have that shows you where your ball flies through the air, tells your ball speed, etc.

I think the machine underestimates your distance, though. I really nutted that thing, and it registered as a mere 237 yards, when I can bust it much longer. Unless the Burner was that bad.

Maybe i was hitting the Ft-i further then, considering it is a simulator and the driver had tape on it, but i was still hitting it around 250.. wow.. im good..

237 yards of carry is pretty good. You might be suprised just how long 237 yards can be. The launch monitor was pretty spot on with me.

The burner takes some getting used to since it hits like no other driver in this years class because of that 46" shaft.

Just a dissenting opinion. I found the Burner to be a horrible club. I had no idea where it was, I couldn't close the clubface because the shaft always seemed to be lagging behind too much, it sounded bad, and was just, in general, a horrible club for me.

I'm a 4.5 index with about 250 yards of carry and a gentle cut off the tee. I tried the TP version, because every non-TP from TM goes left, left, left.

I haven't hit another driver (except to review) this year than the 907D2. Awesome driver.

Yea I would not expect many low handicappers to play a driver like this, it is really best fit for a mid-handicapper. I am a pretty weak guy so the lighter weight really helps me with club speed and I can feel the head.

I play the burner and after changing shafts the club really plays well for me. I think that longer shaft for speed is such BS and the shaft flex always seemed way too whippy. I had a stiff and I absolutely hated the way it felt. The burner TP is the nicer of the two in my opinion due to the head and the fact its not a closed face.

However definently go hit some drivers at a store and see which one works.

I tried the 11* DRAW model on demo day for Callaway here in NJ today. I really liked it, I hit it straight everytime...but, thats if you want to dish out 400 bucks ya know?

If you want to go a little cheaper, the Ping G5 is a GREAT deal. I heard you can find it some places at 250(???), which is awesome. I personally love this club, best club in my bag. If I just don't overswing I hit it perfect 240 yards everytime right down the middle of the fairway. (this is a big drive for someone 5'6" 135 lbs)

i dont really have the problem with my shots going every which way, usually theyre straight about 75% of the time or left when i get a little quick. i like the r7 alot and can hit it pretty well im just not a big fan of the MWT since i dont need the shot shaping. thats why i was thinking burner over the superquad. ill probably end up with the burner just because i really like taylor made drivers. ive used them for a long time and theyve always served me well.

I am very tempted to get a BURNER as well, used it along with several others at golfsmith today and loved it. The new Cobra was a close seccond but didn't feel as good as the burner to me. I too hit a natural draw (the one thing I do right) and I actually preferred the slightly more open face of the TP model since I'm not concerned about the slice.

I have the Burner TP model with a UST V2 stiff shaft in it and it is a great club. The big difference on the launch monitor was the ball speed on mis-hits was much greater than mis-hits with my Cleveland. That is the main reason I got it. I think the Burner, TP or not, is a solid club for all handicappers. I am a 2.8 and it works great for me.

Except that it's not, clearly, if you'd read my comments above. I'm glad it works for you, but c'mon, let's avoid making sweeping generalizations about how great it is for everyone.

Couple of the guys have had cancer, heart issues and strokes but still doing the best they can. But not what they used to. Some are where they probably should just play nine holes because at about fifteen they are starting to struggle quite a bit. My scores are creeping up each year, don’t like it but it’s better than sitting in the recliner. Good luck.
