Yao Ming (7'6" NBA center) from 25 yards. Imagine if a 7'6" person swung like Sadlowski

Cue four pages of "it's all about the short game, bro."

I would imagine there's also a point of diminishing returns in the full swing, where the radius becomes too large and the levers too long to achieve a functional level of control. Adding speed past this point isn't really going to do you much good.

Stretch.

This was not his second shot. . .The female announcer mentioned that this was his 3rd shot then the male announcer kind of stated that it was on a 450 yard par 4. I don't think either of them know golf that well. I mentioned this where I posted this video a couple times in the past.

In any case, the ratio between Yao and Jamie is 90/71 or about 27% taller. However, the club is not going to be longer. Guessing that if a 7'6" athlete could swing proportionately as fast as Jamie he would have a roughly 20% faster club head speed? Don't know if it translates to 20% more distance?

Mike Dobbyn is 6'8" and about as flexible and muscular as you can get in that size a frame. His longest official drive was 550 yards.

Imagine getting a decent club fit. I don't think that the rules allow for clubs long enough to really fit Yao.

Look at that putter! it's as long as a driver!

He's large.

Maximum shaft length is 48 inches.  I assume there must come a point where you are too tall to use a club optimally.  Yao would probably be too tall to get maximum swing speed efficiently

To get fit properly, Yao would have to have custom made clubs, and they would be illegal. But I say if the man wants to play golf, build him clubs that fit. It's like telling someone with size 20 feet they have to wear size 12 because that's the maximum legal size.

    • They sure do. 158 with an 8 iron is on the high end for me
    • Went back to controlling my knees. That part was getting a bit sloppy when I worked on my backswing. Right hip didn't slide or gain internal rotation. I would just rotate back and around and the left knee would be in a bad spot. Really focusing now on keeping my left knee very stable and straighter in the backswing. I can't go back to the old pattern of overturning the hips. I was returning to my old pattern to time my downswing. Turn forever.  Left knee controls both knees and hips, acting as an anchor. Feel like it straightens a bit.   Hinge sooner and faster. Not in a way that sends the hands out and flips the club over. I still noticed when the hands get to A2.5, the hands would want to flip over and flatten the club out a ton.  Still trying to figure out how to roll the forearms a bit open and not just roll the club inside a ton.  Figure out the timing to get the hands down. Still getting a bit of right elbow collapsing in the downswing because the arms are too high when I turn. Everything is happening sooner now. If the hips are controlled, the backswing is shortened. Because it is shortened I don't know when to get the hands down and I just turn because the downswing is a go.  Very slow (50%) swings are decent.
