just saw you asked about driver, too..

Driver average is around 250 ish...the majority of my "I hit that one well" drives get out to about 260 and my "that was ok" drives go from 240-250 not counting any natural aids like wind or anything.

So we'll call it D-Hybrid = 20 yds

Hybrid-5i = 15 yards.

I would add another club at the high end that closes the gaps from your driver to 5 iron. And you have an unnecessary gap between your wedges. You can go PW (traditionally 48), GW (52), SW (56) and a 58 or 60. I see no reason to not utilize the rules to your advantage by having 14 clubs. I actually have 16 clubs that I use regularly that I mix and match depending on conditions.

the thing is...my hybrid gaps my driver and 5i...and another wedge is the only thing I would add...a 50 degree wedge.

My philosophy on golf "We're not doing rocket science, here."

I can remember golf sets being sold this way - 1 and 3 woods, 3,5,7,9 irons and putter. The cost was half that of a "full" set. When I walk and carry, it is usually with something like this. It should all depend on the course you play - which clubs do you rarely hit on that particular course? You can probably do just as well by leaving them out of the bag on the next trip. In many cases, you can "fill the gap" by simply choking down on the grip.

it makes sense if you are longer hitter you'd have more wedges.  my PW goes 120, but jimmy might hit his 150.  i have an approach wedge for 110 and a 56 for 95.  i'm sure jimmy would hit an approach 140 and a 56 130, so then he'd have a pretty big gap to fill from 80-130.

for me though i hardly ever leave anything within 90 yards unless it's just a regular chip, which i'm not going to take a full swing on anyway.  so with that philosophy in mind, i don't need say a 60 degree wedge to hit 75 yards on a full swing.
